Am I missing something???? (LSAC GPA)

My school does not give any A+ or any (-) at all. So obviously, even if someone's average in a class is 100, they would "only" get a 4.0. Being that there are no (-), anything below and A can be, at best, a B+.

If the LSAC is supposed to make it possible to make meaningful comparison's of GPA from different schools I am not seeing how.

I once took a a class which needed a 92 for an A. I got a 91, and that is going to count as a 3.3? How is that fair? How is the fact that I am ineligible to get an A+ fair for purposes of comparing GPA with those that are?

I am not posting to complain, but to ask if I missing something. 1) Is the LSAC GPA process in some way different than I think that it is? 2) If it is not, is there something I am not seeing which makes it more "fair" than it seems.

1) Any class where they add up your points and you have to get X amount of points to get a grade is TTT. Don't schools curve? If someone can get a 100, they better be a genius, otherwise the class is too easy. So don't complain.

2) LSAC doesn't look at your points they look at the grade on your transcript. If your transcript says A they give you an A, if it says B+ they give you a B+.

Not having minuses helps you a whole lot more than it hurts. Since a lot of those 92 A's would have been A-'s.

I am more willing to accept the lack of minuses help more than hurt part of this. But I cannot get an A+. That part is difficult to accept. a 4.33 can balance out a "bad" grade. I can never do that.

i really wanna say most top undergrads dont give A+, so OP is probably not going to get much sympathy on top-law-schools.com

edit: totally based on just a hunch; not claiming to have looked that up or know it to be true by any means

If your school was so easy you routinely got almost every answer on every test right, you already get a boost by going to an easy college.

Quick question for the OP since DF is messing around:

Do you think your the first to notice this discrepancy?

Live with whatever your GPA is calculated to or transfer before you get your first undergraduate degree to a school that has a more favorable GPA system.

DF, naughty.

I'm not messing around I actually believe what I'm saying.

Schools that give A's for getting 92/100 are TTT. What the fuck is this? Junior High social studies? Any class where most students are getting almost all the questions right is not hard enough.

I had thought you were joking as well which is why I did not respond, but alas you are not....

I am not sure thisweakens my point. I never contend that my GPA would be 4.33. I only say that I dont have the opportunity to ever get an A+ which some people do and this can be used to counter a "bad" grade.

If anything, it is circular logic. If someone gets an A+, then their school was so easy that it should not give A+'s. That is what you are saying?

I certainly did not frame my post to suggest that I had found something new. Rather I asked if I understood the system. And If i did, if there was some reason that the system, which seems unfair to me, actually is fair.

The answers I have gotten basically say, "Yes, you understand. Sorry, it sucks"
