Consulting jobs on resume?

Quick question: Do you list consulting positions on your resume? (I'm not talking about people whose full-time job is that of a consultant.) For example, let's say that you spent 15 hours per week for four months as a paid consultant to do graphic design for a particular company (while having a different, full-time job). Would you include that consulting on your resume? Thanks.

I think that you, a consultant, should feel free to put relevant info on your resume.

My question tho:

Should I, only occasionally a consultant, put perhaps relevant info on my resume?

I would include it. Especially if your interest/talent in graphic design is not apparent elsewhere in your application. Another skill/interest that shows what a well-rounded individual you are can't hurt.

Thanks. My challenge is just picking what to leave in / take out.

This thread is, unsurprisingly, hilarious.

To you, OP, an occasional consultant, I suggest that you include it. What's the downside?

Just that my resume is 3 pages and that seems too long

I think the real question here is whether you, a consultant, should even be going to school. You could probably be making six figures.

I think that your resume, at 3 pages, is too long. Can you, a consultant, cut it down to 2 pages by omitting the less significant work? How about including just one general "consulting" section that bullet-points projects?
Haha, trying... I actually don't have that many individual items on there (about 16 plus education/awards), but I've always believed in offering at least some degree of specifics about various jobs.

If you have determined it relevant (the hardest part) then you should put it on your resume. 3 pages sounds a bit long tho...sure everything on there is relevent?

It all tells the same narrative that has worked thusfar (that is to say, it has been pretty effective at getting interviews and whatnot). Some jobs are similar to other jobs, but part of its point is to show long-term commitment to certain issues.

Somebody with 3 pages of relevent stuff has a pretty impressive resume then. Its all those 3 page resumes with "mowed lawns for grandpa" that have trouble.

The guide for including it should be what is already on there. If it stacks up well then add it. If it looks better than something else, replace that something else.

Leave out the commas, that should cut it down, to a page, at the most.

Oh and do not substitute// for,, it will not help shorten your resume. Good luck.

Thanks.

I was lucky to have a prior job that involved reviewing hundreds of resumes, so at least I know what I personally think works and doesn't work. My rule: If you don't have numbers or some other way of quantifying what you did, "next"
