Hi there just trying to get some peoples opinions/experiences on applying to law schools with a splitter. I am a senior now and scored a 154 on my lsat in december was expecting a lot high but I got antsy during the test. I was scoring consistently higher on practice tests but that is besides the point. I am a Penn State student at University Park graduating with a 3.7 Gpa in Mechanical Engineering. I am within the top 18 percent of my class. I am just wondering if people have had similar experiences to the schools I have applied.

Schools Applied To

I applied to all these schools this week:

Franklin Pierce
New York Law
Cardoza
Fordham
St. Johns
Hofstra
Albany
Uconn
Rutgers
UNC
Brooklyn

Thanks all for looking at my post

Your low LSAT is going to hold you back at many of those schools. You're probably better off studying for the LSAT and retaking it if you want a shot at the likes of Cardozo or Fordham. The LSAT is a test that you can improve 10-15 points on with a few months of intensive study; if you start preparing now you can probably make it into the mid-high 160s by the June test.

Doing so will not only greatly increase your chances of getting into those schools, but open up the possibility of schools like Cardozo giving you $$ to attend.

If you're unwilling to retake the LSAT, then I think you have a good shot at all but Fordham, Cardozo, Brooklyn, and UNC (an odd little outlier in this NY-intensive list). However, eliminating the Top 5 NYC schools in a heavily saturated market means that retaking the LSAT is really the only thing to do if this is where you want to practice.

Yea I have thought about that.... I am planning on going into a relatively smaller law field in Patent Law( in which I have a advantage being a engineer) and already have had internships with a patent law firm. Furthermore, I have a lot of contacts in law firms in New York as most of my family is composed of lawyers.

THANKS FOR YOUR OPINIONS YEA I THOUGHT THE SAME THING... HAVE TO HAVE SOME REACH SCHOOLS
