Splitters Hoping for T6/T14-Highest LSAT Score You'd Retake?
This question is intended for those folks with less-than-great GPAs who are hoping that the LSAT will be our ticket to the T6 (or T14). What is the highest score you would retake? At what point do you think retaking just looks bizarre as opposed to helpful?

But with a "less-than-great GPA" you're not getting into H or Y even with a 180.ConsideringLawSchool wrote:But still under 25th %tile for Harvard and YaleNightrunner wrote:I would retake a 172; anything above that is 99th percentile.

I would have a lot of respect for anyone who retook a 179. That's confidence.

Then you're not ready to accept the way the admissions system works. It still works that way whether you accept it or not.ConsideringLawSchool wrote:I'm not ready to categorically say thatvanwinkle wrote:But with a "less-than-great GPA" you're not getting into H or Y even with a 180.ConsideringLawSchool wrote:But still under 25th %tile for Harvard and YaleNightrunner wrote:I would retake a 172; anything above that is 99th percentile.

Depends on what less than great means. There are students here who had relatively poor undergraduate GPAs and are not URMs.Nom Sawyer wrote:

Haha yeah I know, but when I think of less than great I'm thinking of <3.5... which is probably almost an absolute wall (barring urm and another one or two admits per year) to HYS.Cleareyes wrote:Depends on what less than great means. However if by less than great you're talking about 3.7 (which is A-, doesn't actually fit in my opinion) then ur chances are much better of course.

I don't get this joke even though I see people make it a lot. Since when is 172 not 99%ile?Nightrunner wrote:I would retake a 172; anything above that is 99th percentile.

Generally I would say 172, since anything above that gives you a pretty good shot at getting into YHS, but since you are a splitter (assuming your GPA is below 3.5) you are dinged from there no matter what... so then I say retake anything below 175 to make sure you get at least one of CCN.

I would have retaken a 172. If my gpa was over 3.3 I'd probably retake a 173.
But this very much depends on gpa and what you realistically can get. Not everyone is cut out for 180.

I voted 170...but the more I research and compare numbers with other fellow splitters I feel like I should have voted 172.

It depends on your GPA and the best school that will realistically accept you in spite of it.ConsideringLawSchool wrote:I really need a cutoff before I see my score but can't decide...superserial wrote:my cutoff was 170, but I think I would have retaken a 172.

I know many people hold this belief, but I do think that I have unique, game-changing softs. Will also have 2 years post-college work experience.
