Truth is everyone considered Cornell to be the most reachable T-14 school and sent in an application to try their luck, possibly fueled by the horrible economy.

I've also heard about a trend in which kids are simply applying to many more law schools in a given cycle. While it may not have the same recognition in the grizzled, die-hard law school community, Cornell has a high rank, a good reputation, and a very recognizable name. For those looking to work in NY after law school, Cornell's placement in the state makes it a very appealing reach for many law school applicants.

I'd be curious to see the numbers Cornell is getting. It would be something if most of the extra 50% was made up of candidates with numbers around the 167/3.6 range or higher, but I don't think that's the case.

Cornell doesn't hide its penis. They tell you at the door that its there and where it will be going for the next 3 years of your life.

Cornell's numbers aren't up because its a reach, it is beacuse it is a safety. Everyone applying to the T-10 is now throwing in a Cornell app just to be safe.

Definitely a combination of being a reach for people outside the T14, backup for T10, and Ivy. I actually don't think the increase is that hard to understand.

Yale = Bjork. Weird, socially awkward, cerebral.

NYU = J-Lo. Popular, urban (“from the block”), questionable talent.

Columbia = Rihanna. Talented; sometimes gets beat up.

UVA = Miley Cyrus. Southern; attractive / clean-cut on the surface, kinky behind closed doors; potentially passé.

Georgetown Law = Paris Hilton. Ubiquitous; just kind of there, not sure what it’s good for.

lol

That thought is killing me. Those are my exact numbers and I think the extra 50% is going to get me a nice reject this cycle.

cornell seemed to be the school all the "above average" guys went to back when i used to be in high school. all the kids i know that go there are the kids who think very highly of themselves but didnt have much to show for it. to make up for this fact they would do above average in everything to say they go to an ivy league school. cornell seems to be the outcast that always tries to fit in with the popular kids so it ends up being shun by the average and geek groups.

Woah so much hate for Cornell ha-I don't get it?
I don't even think that its THAT easy to get in...I rarely see 3.6/168s get in, at least from my LSN and TLS stats stalking. Usually its at least a higher GPA-like a 3.8+/168 that I see get in. Perhaps thats just me...

It's easy to get into relative to the rest of the T14, but at least they've pulled their medians out of the logjam of schools at 167. It was embarrassing last year when they were behind schools like Vandy, UCLA, GW, UT, WUSTL, and even Minn.

I guess that its sort of strange-its easy once you are at a certain level, and yet if you are a solid T-20 (but generally out of the T-14) you basically have no shot and it doesn't seem very splitter friendly. Its like either people consider it to be a safety or nobody thinks of it at all.

Cornell Law School is like Paris Hiltion - easy to get into and has a well known and respected name which it doesn't live up to.
