If there's a poll, make sure "neither" is an option.

Television technology is interesting, the things currently played on televisions aren't. I think popular boob-tube programming has reached the pinnacle of mind-numbing idiocy - but in a masochistic streak - I tried watching one of these episodes. The Deep End is spectacularly contrived, dull and stupid. The portrayals as well as requirements of the audience to even consider any scene dramatic, interesting or compelling (in any sense) truly shows how stupid the media either (a) wants us to be or (b) we are, if we watch it. It is spectacularly terrible. I will not subject myself to it ever again. Shame on them.

Neither. They're both awful. There hasn't been a realistic, in-depth show analysing the day-to-day soul crushing drudgery of the legal field and de-glamorizing it to a realistic level since Boston Legal was canceled.

I like The good Wife. Most people on here denounce anything that isn't 100% realistic, and if they're going to be that way then they shouldn't watch anything other than Court TV.

The Deep End is definitely off the deep end...way to dramatic and poor acting. The Good Wife has some good characters, and is entertaining to watch.

"De-glamorizing?" Didn't each BL episode end with fine scotch and cigars? ;)

^ Wait, that's not realistic? Oh. Excuse me while I withdraw all of my apps and cancel my mass Glen Livet order on Amazon.d

I rather liked Raising The Bar.

Accuracy is questionable, but the show was good.

I really liked raising the bar. Sad it is gone, but they said there would be a few more episodes I thought. Only thing I would have changed about is would have called him Zack Morris. In my mind he was still the same person going from elementary school to college and now he is just a lawyer. I actually watched him through all those years.

I miss BL and the Practice...but The Good Wife will do for now...also, I like the fact that it centers on a woman lawyer, as opposed to the other shows which are male dominated. The women were usually either bitchy or legal ingenues trying to stand up against their male counterparts, sometimes brilliantly, othertimes not so. "Alicia" is savy and vulnerable, a great combination.

Interesting that BL and The Practice were Boston based, The Good Wife is Chicago based, The Deep End is L.A. ( but shot in Texas). Where is the New York counterpart? ( The Rhode Island attempt, Canterbury's Law, also with Margulies, flopped...no surprise, it degenerated into an alcoholic divorce riddled stupor).

The all time best was L.A. Law....if any of you were even born then!

I think it is hard to judge the deep end because there has only been one episode. I thought it was funny how all of them are practicing without passing the bar considering results don't come out until Novemberish (Unless they all clerked).

I love The Good Wife. Not the most realistic show but great acting and good stories. The Deep End, besides starring Tina Majorino, is trash. I was surprised that none of these 4 associates at a LA law firm would come from UCLA or USC or Loyola... and wouldn't have experience as a 2L Summer Associate. After watching the premiere, I wondered if the creator did any actual research.

I do like Billy Zane... I don't think any actor in the world can play skeezy and creepy better (except the brilliant Christopher Walken).

yes...and speaking of Walkin, I loved his weird fantasy video to "Weapon of Choice". Amazing.

As far as lawyers in entertainment go, I really enjoyed the movies Fracture and Michael Clayton.

I like that movie better than Fracture too... In fact, Michael Clayton is one of my favorite movies. But I can't help but like the main character in Fracture better. He is arrogant as fuck and that's why I like him, Willy Beachum or something ;D.

Season 3 of Damages anyone?! It started on Monday. Looks like it should be a goodie!!

Edit: Neither show in the thread title are any good, it's insulting to call The Deep End the law version of Grey's.
