What LSAT score do I need?

Post by ccmonson » Wed Jan 27, 2010 8:18 pm

By the end of the first semester of my senior year, I hope to have over a 3.9 GPA from my university. But my LSDAS GPA is only going to be a little over a 3.8. If I'm aiming for Harvard, Yale or Columbia, how high of an LSAT do you think I need to get? Thanks.

Yale: 175+ with great softs
Harvard: 173-174
Columbia: 171-172 (probably 171 for ED)

180

You should not shoot for anything lower than that because that would mean you've become content with making errors, which will cause nothing but trouble when you're actually sitting for the test. Even though your post raises the question of what your gpa is now and what grade level you are at, but I think those are somewhat irrelevant.

I'll go ahead and say I'm in my second semester of my sophomore year. I have a 3.85 currently with a 3.6 LSDAS GPA. I'm basing those GPAs on making all As for the rest of undergraduate school, which I am determined to do. I'll take the LSAT in June of 2011 and apply to schools that December. I'm taking my first practice LSAT in a couple of weeks. I'm fairly confident in my ability. I'm generally accurate on all three sections; although, my timing needs improvement.

Unnecessarily optimistic, IMO.

On LSN, 7/18 got into Yale, 9/19 got into Harvard, and 16/22 got into Columbia with the ranges I listed. Sounds about right to me.
