Many people (especially those coming directly out of UG) list volunteer work like actual jobs, provided they spent some serious time there. If you actually did volunteer work, don't be afraid to do this -- especially if you need to show the experience.

I have no idea what rich folks do.
I've had some "real jobs" being 32, but I have a spot where I did zero work for about a year. I wasn't going to be specific with my volunteer work or say where, I was going to just generalize it and not get into details.

I've always used years on my resume, even it was just an internship I was at for a few months during that year. Is there anything wrong with that? I never thought of this as being dishonest; it was more just a matter of presentation.
