GPA 3.7 LSAT 153 Schools?

GPA 3.7 LSAT 153 What do I do? I actually took the LSAT again and actually did worst despite practice testing in the mid 160's (Plan to take it a 3rd time if I do not get in anywhere.) I know they weigh the LSAT more then grades, but isn't this kind of a splitter. I have been a research assistant for 3 professors, interned for one of the SF mayor's offices, been told that my personal statement is excellent, and know that I will have good LOR's. I am applying to the following schools:

Depaul
University of San Francisco (my school and they average my score so for them its 150 YUCK!)
Santa Clara
University of San Diego
Indiana Indianapolis
Loyola Maramount
University of Miami
Loyola Chicago
UNC (I know no chance Law School Predictor says 27% so I thought why not)
American U (Again no chance probably)
Syracuse

Is there any other schools I should look at. Especially on the west coast and in California. PLLEEEAASE SUGGESTIONS!

Thanks guys!

Might wanna throw an app at Seattle U. Your LSAT is low, but your GPA is high. If you have URM status though, you shouldn't have a problem getting in.

I have similar numbers but I'm not a URM (3.61, 153). I have been waitlisted at Miami (just to pass along the info). Good luck to us LSAT losers.

Thanks guys! Ya the LSAT is a fickle beast! Would gladly meet one of the creators in a back alley somewhere. To bad I am not URM, so I am probably just screwed.

you should just retake. wasting your high GPA on a low-ranked school would be such a shame!

I agree with the poster above except I'd say you must retake. None of those schools are worth attending and wasting a 3.7 on a score as low as 153 is criminal.

TLS, can i get some advice:

153/3.82/ UCLA (poli sci) graduated Cum Laude and honors all 4 years, graduated 2010 and Ive been working full time for 2 (going on 3) years as a legal assistant in an Intellectual Property Firm. Good LoR's and application should be strong (aside from LSAT), [non-URM]

with the drop in apps this year, how do i look for Fall 2013 in CA schools?

None of the schools that you're in range for right now average the LSATs. If you get a mid-160s like you have been practicing at you will be in MUCH better shape. If you get a 153 again you will be in the same situation. You have nothing to lose go for it!

no one but the t-6 iirc, could be just yhs, not sure though. certainly none of the schools he listed. more say they do but that seems like a load of hooey based on lsn. heck even if usf really does average he'll get in anyway with his gpa.

If you get a 165 you could absolutely have a shot at hastings/ucla/usc/davis. heck boalt is 38% on lsp

How'd you go from PTing in the mid 160s to a 153? If it were me, I'd take one more time, there's just a lot of room for improvement between mid 160s and 153 that should be easy to obtain if you can PT it under timed conditions consistently. It'd be worth your time and money to do so if you think it is at all possible.

I'd definitely re-take if I were you. With a good GPA and decent resume you could enter an entirely new playingfield if you could score a little better on the LSAT. Not sure how much effort you put into the first test, but buckle down for the next 3 - 5 months and try again.

I'd retake. LSAT is something you can learn, it just may take more time. I wouldn't recommend going to most of any of those schools, short of substantial scholarships. For reference, I ended up practicing about 7-8 points higher than my actual score, but I only took it once. Sometimes nerves will kill you.

I ended up getting 7 points higher than my PT average (155) and 4 points higher than my highest PT ever (158). Surprised the shit out of myself after being completely discouraged by never being able to break 160. I think the difference was all nerves. I'm always nervous taking a PT, I always feel rushed, I always felt anxious. When the real test came around I had completely suppressed the fight or flight reaction (I feel like this is absolutely necessary). You really just have to put yourself in the right frame of mind and you will absolutely crush the test. The adrenaline feeling will make doing anything logical extremely hard.

Definitely retake if you're doing well on PTs. It can only help. If you do worse, doesn't matter, if you do better then perfect :)

study-->retake. I went from 155-->158-->164. STUDY, and take it a 3rd time. You're obviously applying this coming cycle, so why not retake in October?
