Sorry, But How Do You Ask For A Fee Waiver Via Email?
Cardozo, Seton Hall, and Richmond have sent them to me unsolicited, but which email address would one use on a school's site to request one? I called Wake and they offered to give me one while we were discussing the school, my interests, etc, but there has to be an easier way.

Usually something along the lines of admissions@yourschoolhere.edu

What should I say? What is the standard request/reason? Does there need to be a reason?booboo wrote:Usually something along the lines of admissions@yourschoolhere.edu

You're overthinking it, just tell them your numbers and request a fee waiver.monkeyboy wrote:What should I say? What is the standard request/reason? Does there need to be a reason?booboo wrote:Usually something along the lines of admissions@yourschoolhere.edu

attach documentation if it is need based and you dont even need to tell your numbers. I only paid for one application and applied to 10 schools. I only applied to two safety schools, the rest are all reaches. Mentioning my numbers would not have gotten me a fee waiver, but interest in the school and documentation did.

If there is no way you'll get a need based fee waiver, should you include your numbers? I would think so considering they're important for merit.

Re: Sorry, But How Do You Ask For A Fee Waiver Vie Email?
At this point, from my recent asking for fee waivers, many of the T14 are tapped out of solicited fee waivers. I am not sure how this works with the 15-30.
Just for an idea....
I asked for a fee waiver, mentioned my LSAT and my GPA, and said how it would advance my application process.
Short, sweet, and to the point.
I also mentioned my LSAC Account #.

Re: Sorry, But How Do You Ask For A Fee Waiver Via Email?
Hi, sorry to bring up an old thread, but does anyone know if it is standard practice to include both merit and financial reasons in a fee waiver request email? Unfortunately, it appears (from LSN) that most of the T14 sends out unsolicited FWs to 169s, but I have a 168, 3.94 (4.0). I really need the waivers to be able to apply to all of my targets/reaches (~10) next cycle. Also, in regard to booboo's post about schools running out of solicited fee waivers, when is the best time to send these emails? I'm hoping to apply as early as possible next cycle (by the end of September). TIA!

Re: Sorry, But How Do You Ask For A Fee Waiver Via Email?
I actually got 4 fee waivers from school via email. All i did was send them an email saying "I just recently learned more about x school of law and have become increasingly interested. However, after applying to so many schools, I am out of funds. I would greatly appreciate a fee waiver. Thank you" Naturally I flowered it up a tad bit more, but I asked 5 schools and was only told no by one. I couldn't believe how easy it was. They didnt ask for my numbers or anything. Then again, I have always had a unique streak of luck that pisses everyone off around me, so ya never know.

I asked 3 schools for merit-based fee waivers, 2 told me yes (OSU and WUSTL) and one told me no (American). American doesn't offer merit based fee-waivers, I wish I would have knew that ahead of time. Basically all I said was that I'd like to apply to there school, that I was low on funds, listed my stats, and they sent waivers over the same day. It was much easier than I thought it would be.

Re: Sorry, But How Do You Ask For A Fee Waiver Via Email?
I got a bunch of fee waivers from T1 schools just from asking. One stood out in particular. I asked University of Miami for one and received a long winded, green colored font soliloquy about how normally they dont give out waivers to people with my low GPA (even though my LSAT is way above your 75th) but for me they will make an exception, and I should include a GPA addendum to explain my bad grades, even if they were due to immaturity.
It came off very weird to me. I never applied to UM.

Re: Sorry, But How Do You Ask For A Fee Waiver Via Email?
I'm hoping someone can help me here.
I started applying but I've decided to sit out this cycle. I've received numerous unsolicited fee waivers after taking my LSAT, some of which are to schools I am interested in applying to. Will these be valid next cycle as well, or should I write to them and let them know I'm applying next cycle and would like the fee waiver then?

They probably aren't valid for next cycle but there seems to be little reason why a school would offer you one this year but decline your request next year. I wouldn't sweat it, just mention you received one last year but xxx happened.

Yeah, I had the same question about a couple that I received.Sandro wrote:They probably aren't valid for next cycle but there seems to be little reason why a school would offer you one this year but decline your request next year. UCLA's said this: Feel free to contact us the year you plan to apply to see if we are still offering the fee waiver program. We should be but please touch base. If you can, please save the email that you received on Monday.
Best wishes to you for a great year,
Karman Hsu
And Minnesota said this: Thank you for your inquiry. If you decide to apply to the University of Minnesota Law School next year and would like to be granted a fee waiver, please keep this email and send it to us next year when you are applying. We will then be able to reactivate your fee waiver.
If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to contact us again.
Sincerely,
Office of Admissions
