Given that this is a more legit addendum than most, I think you're ok having it a bit longer, but you still might be able to cut it down a little.

Thanks for the read! Are there any spots in particular that seem wordy or unnecessary?

Agreed except punctuation is always inside the quotation marks.

Only if it's quoted dialogue.

Regardless. Even if it's the title of a book, the period goes inside the quotations.

Wikipedia isn't exactly authoritative, but here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quotation_mark#Punctuation

It definitely goes inside if it's part of the title, but you wouldn't say: have you seen "Rudy?", rather "Rudy"?

It's probably insignificant, but question marks have different rules than periods and commas. Regardless, from that site you quoted, it says:

When it comes to commas and periods, though, logic doesn't enter into the equation, at least not in the United States. Universal American usage places commas and periods inside the quotation marks, regardless of logic.

The only exception is when that last little item enclosed in quotation marks is just a letter or a number, in which case the period or comma will go outside the closing quotation marks

Wrong. Punctuation INSIDE quotes.

EDIT: for OP's privacy

I'm not arguing that Wikipedia doesn't say that, but no other source I've seen seems to agree.

Except the one that you linked to. I just provided that quote not from wikipedia, but from the link you provided. So actually, you have found one that agrees.

Well, it saddens me to say that I am wrong. I googled "american quotations," and you both are correct. I've learned a lot today both about grammar and myself. Indeed we Americans put commas and periods inside our quotes no matter what.

I ending up cutting out a bunch of stuff prior to your post and we basically cut all the same stuff. Thanks for the heads up on the grammar! Your feedback and input is much appreciated.

Void & Everyone else:
Thanks for the clarification on grammar. I'm glad we finally came to a consensus.

(as can be found here)

Quote:
Additional Punctuation Rules when Using Quotation Marks
-Put commas and periods within quotation marks, except when a parenthetical reference follows.
-Place colons and semicolons outside closed quotation marks.
-Place a question mark or exclamation point within closing quotation marks if the punctuation applies to the quotation itself. Place the punctuation outside the closing quotation marks if the punctuation applies to the whole sentence.

No problem. I'll go ahead and delete the quote.
