Should I type out the "formal" Law School Name? Forum

Help.
In my essays should I refer to the Law School using their formal name?
Ex: New York University School of Law/Georgetown University Law Center etc.

Or, is it okay to refer to them by their abbreviated names?
Ex: NYU Law/Georgetown Law?

Refer to it once formally, and then you can shorten it up. If you really want to follow the rules, you can indicate the short version in parentheses before you use it.

I am super impressed by Georgetown University Law Center (GULC). The dining halls in particular are the main reason why GULC is amazeballs.

• The first time you refer to it in text, use "Georgetown University Law Center." After that you may use "Georgetown Law" or "the Law Center."
