I sent it to someone and their response was that perhaps it accomplishes the opposite of what a typical diversity statement is supposed to do i.e. assimilating or overcoming an obstacle presented my minority status as opposed to using that minority experience to engage more with my "white" culture. Thoughts?

*bump* Hoping to get applications out this weekend. Still trying to figure out if this is an appropriate diversity statement or not. Any advice is much appreciated!
