Sports?

Postby hos9903 » Tue Jul 30, 2013 5:41 pm

I'm wondering what an admissions committee is going to think about a PS about sports? I am part of the rowing team at my undergrad, and I have been working on a statement around that. But I am starting to worry that they would prefer to read something more academically-focused. Especially since I haven't had any major adversity in my life, it's either rowing or something academic for me. Thoughts?

Tons of people do it. You want to illustrate the qualities you possess that would make you a good law student, but if you can do it by talking about rowing, that's fine.

yea that's what I was thinking. I was getting nervous that it would be more about why I would do well in law school, and not necessarily why I have an academic interest in the legal profession. But I guess interest can be assumed since I am sending out applications. Thanks for the response.

Dean Asha has a blog post that touches sorta on the dangers of this kind of topic: http://blogs.law.yale.edu/blogs/admissi ... trick.aspx
