Most schools are going to focus on the higher score anyway. I don't think you need this addendum, it also doesn't really seem strong to me, your reasons are basic and those types of things happen to everyone. It is my understanding that an addendum is better suited for situations where there is a very large bump or where your reasons are things like "close relative died that week" or "suffering from crazy medical illness at the time" or even "really insane thing happened on the day of 1st LSAT"

Hey, don't know what OP wrote but since this is still here, what about an 8 point jump from test 1 to test 2 when test 1 was preceded by two family funerals? Took test 1 in October 2011 and that Summer had to fly across the country to attend their funerals. Aside from really, really bumming me out (was pretty close to one of these relatives), it interrupted my studying. Good idea for an addendum or still better left alone?

8 point jump?
No.

so that was my issue in the original post. Doesn't Cornell also want to know about any jump of 3 or more points?

Hey, what about a drop of 3 points :| Should I write an addendum? Even though I do not really have an excuse besides the fact that in a peak of desperation (after being waitlisted at 6 schools), I registered for the June test at the last possible moment and did not have much time to prepare...

I think that its better to not have an addendum than to have one that sounds like you are complaining about nothing. If you are in the schools range, they should really care about the rise or fall of a few points.
