About cover letters, but applies to PSs too. Might seem obvious, but it covers some common mistakes.

I would caution care not to go overboard applying stuff like this to a personal statement, which is expected to be more of a narrative rather than an emphasis on of accomplishments.

Very good point. I meant it to temper people's self-aggrandizement rather than serve as guide for doing it more effectively.
