Possible PS Topic. Ideas?

Post by dfowkes » Wed Oct 19, 2011 11:35 am

So, honestly I may have been slacking in regards to my personal statement since I have not given a whole lot of thought. However, I was thinking I would write about my experiences as a Boy Scout, how it has shaped the person I have become, and all the work that was needed to achieve the rank of Eagle Scout. Thoughts? Really, I have no idea if this is even the right direction to go and any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I think that's a viable topic, a lot of it is in the execution. Almost anything can be made into a great PS depending on how you spin it. My biggest concern would be-- don't most people become Eagle Scouts towards the end of high school? It'd be dangerous to focus your personal statement on something that happened before college. Perhaps as an introduction or one anecdote, but not as your entire PS.
