Early app with one PS or later with PS & DS?

Post by boosk » Tue Aug 16, 2011 5:19 pm

URM-MA 165/3.56,

Just wanted to get some opinions on whether it would be better to send my app in super early with only one essay (the PS) or to wait til I can craft a good 2nd essay (the DS)... My personal statement does contain many diversity issues (immigration, heritage), so this could actually become my DS if I decide to write another essay. However, these types of essays take me a while to write/revise/perfect so I'm not so sure of what I should do.

I'm targeting Penn with an ED, whose apps come out on Sept 1st...

Uh...write faster? Sorry if that wasn't helpful, but there's a full two weeks before September 1 and another two weeks after that before Sept 15. I'm sure you've written essays faster for a class.

I agree, you can finish the PS and DS in the next 2.5 weeks if you set your mind to it.

As they said, git er done! That said, Oct 15 is, practically speaking, no earlier than Sept 15.
