I have yet to write mine, but any words of advice as to what I should include in it or how I should go about presenting it before I sit down and begin writing it? Do law school counselors view them negatively? How long should they be (whats too long)? I have heard of people presenting evidence that they have never been good at standardized tests, so they showed their SAT and any other standardized test scores they have ever taken as evidence. Do you suggest that strategy? Should I highlight my superior academic achievements beyond test scores in this addendum or mainly stick to that in my personal statement? Any words of advice would be great!

I do not believe that my LSAT score accurately reflects my potential to succeed in law school. My SAT scores (seen below) indicate that standardized tests do not accurately predict my academic success in college. Although I took the SAT five times while in high school, I only managed a score of 1200 (620 Verbal, 580 Math). Nonetheless, I graduated with a 3.8 GPA from Big10 University, was on the Dean’s List every semester, and became a member of Phi Beta Kappa.

Do you find it reasonable? 3.8 in college, 168 LSAT, and 1200 SAT after taking it FIVE FUCKING TIMES with multiple scores hovering around 1000.

Short and too the point. I only intend to submit to my reaches: HYSCCN (and Penn because they specifically mention this). But Im not sure if I want to. A 168 is really NOT a bad score outside of TLS. I feel like a doucher complaining about 96th percentile.

Unless you are a URM you are not getting into HYS. Also 168 is not a bad score so I would NOT include that. 168 and 3.8 sound similar. It is not like you scored a 155 and got a 4.07. The discrepancy is not that big.

Dude, a 168 isn't even a bad score on TLS. I mean, how can top 4% be bad? Seriously. What is an acceptable score - only a 180?

I 100% agree with the others on this thread, DO NOT SEND IN AN ADDENDUM FOR A 168 UNLESS, you took it 3+ times and scored something like 140, 150, 168. Then you may make brief mention of the discrepancies, especially if there were extenuating circumstances. Otherwise you will look like a ridiculous 'go getter' and do your application a disservice.

Every law school that I have heard address addendums (GW, American, Alabama, Vandy, Emory) have said that this doesn't help at ALL, but can hurt you.

It worked for me, got scholarships at top 50 law schools despite having an atrocious LSAT. People, unlike the original poster, struggle at the LSAT, GMAT, ACT, SAT, but are able to perform well in college. Additionally, it doesn't mean they are necessairly bad at standardized tests because if they were, then they would have most likely never graduated from middle school and high school where you take standardized tests administered from the state.
