unless it adds significantly to the personal statement e.g. explaining your principal reasoning for wanting to study law, i would leave it out.

^at the same time, if it helps the audience understand you better, and isn't significantly off-topic, I think it would be ok? As per the guidelines of writing a PS.

I wrote about something extremely personal and pretty controversial. Hasn't bitten me in the ass yet. (though, I suppose it still could). Happy to help :)
