Re: Thoughts, suggestions on "Excellence" as a topic?
Bro, what's your LSAT? Unless you have a 175+ and a 3.9+, you're not even close to the best and you'll be laughed at.

First response- it seems a little arrogant to write a personal statement about how you are the best or strive for excellence. Also, unoriginal. Who doesn't want to be excellent?

If you were concerned with "excellence" you wouldn't be going to law school

Obsession with being the best? OP, that will not distinguish you from a single applicant. It will likely come off as cliched and arrogant. The schools want to see excellence. If you have to tell it, then you already have a problem. Also, while schools want to see accomplished individuals who strive for excellence, there is still something to be said for humility as a trait of a well-rounded person. It would be hard to show any scrap of humility if you are forcing the "I strive to be the best" thing down the adcom's throat.

You are not striving for the best if this is what you are coming up with.jd20132013 wrote:I know that this topic has to be cliched. However, when I think about what defines me, I keep coming back to the fact that I'm obsessed with being the best or "figuring out the game", so to speak, in whatever I do.
I know that I am going to tie this into my acute medical experience I suffered during high school, but are there any other tips in making a PS about excellence,(insert synonyms here) stand out?
