I have written about 20 drafts. I freakin hate them all. I dont know whether to focus on my experience in a law firm(which they tell you to avoid talking about the legal field), or discuss college.

How do you write about working an a law firm with out focusing on the law?

Try taking a few drafts you hate a little less than the rest and review them. My current PS draft was born out of a two-sentence off topic idea from my first draft.

Both topics sound crappy.

Try finding an interesting anecdote about yourself and expand on that. It doesn't need to be huge, important, or life-altering, it just needs to make for an interesting story that you can spin to make yourself sound good.

Send some my way and Ill tell you what has potential.

However, this requires that you read and comment on my statement. Please.

Both topics sound like adcomm pandering. What are the most significant, defining events of your life? Think about them and write about them and see where it goes.

I was in the same boat you were. I had written 18 different drafts and I just kept coming back to the same topic about my community service experience (which I thought was a fluffy waste of time to write about). Like the person above me though, my personal statement came from a few sentences in some of my previous drafts.

If it is not an easy topic for you to write about then I don't think you are picking the right topic. Write about what you know best. If you can back up your statement and how it relates to you wanting to go to law school then you're headed in the right direction.

Even try reading some other peoples to get some inspiration.

Good luck!
