Addendum - Disciplinary Action

Postby Sgtpeppernyc » Sun Oct 17, 2010 10:24 am

Hey All - a critique on my disciplinary action addendum would be extremely helpful, especially any pointers in tying it together in the end. Please note - I fully admit how embarrassing of a record this is, so please keep comments qualitative instead of quantitative.

I would like to take this opportunity to explain my answer of "Yes" to question 5a in my application.

During my undergraduate career, I was brought under residence hall disciplinary action for the following incidents:

In my freshman year, I was caught in the presence of alcohol on two occasions. The first was in my dorm room, and the second was at a party in a separate dorm. I was brought under residence hall probation for these infractions, which lasted through the first semester of my freshman year.

In my sophomore year, I was disciplined two additional times. The first resulted from a guest speaking loudly in my hallway. While the RA's on duty discovered alcohol in the room, it was confirmed that this alcohol belonged to students who were of legal drinking age. I received a letter of warning for excessive noise. During this same semester, I received an additional letter of warning for attending a party in a separate dorm where there was alcohol present.

Please note, the following incidents occurred while I was 21 years of age, and I was not brought under any disciplinary action:

During my senior year, I was involved in two separate incidents in my fraternity's residence. The first involved myself and several others participating in drinking games, which we were later informed are against NYU's alcohol policy. During the second, the RA's discovered that several of my guests were drinking even though they were under-age. While the majority of the students in attendance left after this incident, several who remained continued to be noisy, and this prompted the RA's to visit a second time.

I understand that these actions represent significant immaturity on my part, and that I have no excuse for having been involved in them.

I am hardly the expert, but I'll give it a shot:

I received a letter of warning for excessive noise. During this same semester, I received an additional letter of warning for attending a party in a separate dorm where there was alcohol present.
