Consultants- worth it? Forum

I need some serious help with my personal statement and want to hire a consultant to help me with it. I live in Utah. Does anyone have any suggestions either in state or out of state? I'd really appreciate it! Thanks!

If it's only for personal statement, use an editing service.

A consultant implies someone who helps you through the entire process and charges a lot for info you can get on TLS for free.

I used Joann at Revision Editing. A few quibbles aside, she is top-notch.

Consultants can help or hurt. Your personal statement needs to be written in your voice. A good consultant can assist with topic ideas & editing of your essays, but should not be a ghost-writer.

No respectable one will write it for you.

If they offer to do that, run away.
