so i started practicing karate when i was 6 and won 2 national championships when i was 13/14... i know it was a lifetime ago. I stopped competing after HS but I still practice pretty inconsistently. I stopped practicing intensely as a 1st degree black belt and looking back i have spent nearly two decades with it in my life. do you guys think its worth talking about how karate shaped me in the 20-something i am today?.... and more importantly shamelessly promote the fact that i was awesome at something as a teenager? :P

Lol. I was being facetious. But I definitely know how karate can affect one's life (Isshinryu karateka here). I don't see how it could be a bad thing seeing that almost everything about karate is positive. I just wouldn't focus too much on the high school days (although national champ at any level is awesome).

dude that's sick. I knew some kid from texas who studied Isshinryu. But yeah, I would only drop a few lines on the national championship. its certainly not my main focus.
