I wanted my access card as well. I asked LaToya, and she told me that if it was all accepted online, and you had done the MPNs and the loan counseling that I was fine. I am assuming that all of you fine people have already done that, so I sure we are all fine...

:?

Any of my fellow South Bay-ers interested in dinner again?

My loans seem to be fine. I was on the phone for a long time making sure my MPN was in place on my federal loans since I was having trouble with the website. But everything seems to be OK. I'd guess that if there were any problems they'll call or send an email. I can't imagine they'd let us get this far and then simply kick us out because of one mistake or missing form, without even trying to remedy the problem

Also, I'll be in the area from the 4th if anyone wants to meet up after that. :D

I printed all of my MPN stuff out for AccessGroup and my Federal so I have proof that at least I tried to finalize them.

If you guys do dinner on a weekend let me know.

I got my first three E&E's from Amazon this week. Those are big books!

Also: why can't I just buy one note for Office on my Mac? I'm so annoyed.

LOL I just put one note on my new computer and I have no idea how it works. Maybe I should watch the tutorial.

I heard that One note was based off of the "Notebook view" from Word version on the Mac. The Mac Word version allows you to separate things into tabs, take notes, etc., though I'm not sure how powerful it is compared to onenote.

OneNote is ultra powerful. I've been exploring the possibilities of it the last few days.
Actually, now that I have my mac, I realize that I don't actually like macs. Thus, I have been booting in XP the whole time. My office is an xp copy of office. I like it much more than any non Microsoft office type applications.

Are people still going to dinner some time this week?

And, though I may sounds as if I have not been paying attention, what is OneNote?

One Note is a note taking software. Its like having paper notebooks for each class but its all on your computer.
I just got it but I have not actually USED it.

Is it actually worth it? Can't Word, basically, do the same thing?

Seems like spiffy packaging for a product that went off in a more specified direction.

Dinner?

OneNote is to word, what a three ring binder with a lot of pages and tabs for planning and organizing notes is to a piece of paper. It's very useful for things like class notes because you can take notes and organize them by day with links within each page of notes to other pages of notes or parts of your class outline. It can also be used for things like organizing the FRCP so that each rule has it's own page and links to each other rule to other rules that pertains to that rule. And much MUCH MORE! (I feel like an infomercial for OneNote).
Basically all the information that you would enter into OneNote could just as easily be typed up using Word. OneNote just makes it easier to keep organized (which could be very useful when studying for a final and time is of the essence).

I just wish OneNote was a cooler three ring binder. Like the one I had in 3rd grade. There were pictures of Ninja Turtles on it and I covered one side in all the scratch and sniff stickers that I got from doing well on tests.

Check out this Ancorso: http://www.circusponies.com/

I watched all the videos this morning and it seems to do the tabbing thing that one note does really well. I like it because I have a mac for a reason - I don't want to run windows - so I can take notes with my mac and just use windows for tests. But i also have one note because it came with my office purchase for the windows side of my mac. Anyways, thought I would share.

I haven't bought it yet but I'm thinking about it.

Also, Word works fine for notes.

I was planning on quitting on August 8th...

But now I'm debating just cutting my hours back from 40 a week to like 5-10 a week. I feel an extreme loyalty to my company and I know they are not going to hire anyone to replace me...
Also its minimal work for minimal money but any income coming in is a good thing!!!

Anyone have any thoughts on this??

Depends on how you usually study and when you're going to be working. For me, I like to study in long marathon sessions with very few breaks generally straight after or before class, and then have long blocks of free time on the weekends. so working on the weekends would be a possibility if you're like me, but working on weekdays would probably be difficult. Or if you're the opposite, working on weekdays after class would be a good way to break up your study time into smaller blocks (some before and some after work). I wouldn't recommend having a job that ends right before class or starts just after class. I made this mistake in undergrad and was constantly late for class because I got busy at work, or late for work because I had to stay after at class to talk to the prof or TA.

I too offer my condolences about the GF situation. Unfortunately, the only support I can give is to help you drink your problems away before orientation.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
