Not that I've ever had to do it, but what's so hard about shoveling some snow? :) I have driven when there's snow everywhere (real snow in the mountains in Colorado, not like in Texas when we get an inch that doesn't stick and we freak out because "OMG OMG IT'S SNOWING!!! Are they canceling work and school?" ) and I think icy is much worse because you can suddenly lose control of the car (that's what happened to me in the accident that was my fault) if you hit a slick patch that you couldn't see. Snow seems fine in my limited experience.
Depending on how much of it there is: it can be heavy. Barbie shovels won't quite cut it. Additionally, from my limited experience, there can be a layer of ice underneath the snow that has to be hacked. With that said, I find the ice to be more annoying than the snow, simply because you have to scrape it from your car windows, and your sidewalks, but you also have to drive much more carefully on it.

I know of a Filipino priest who does that at my undergrad.. He gets away with it because he's Filipino and a priest.. What's your excuse?

Being Texan? (Disclaimer: I am Texan and do not plan to do this, but then again I also love cold weather.)

Yeah I would say it's more because I simply do not know what to expect from temperatures that low!

At the very least, it might be kind of funny for y'all to see 6'5'' 220lbs of person bundled up and waddling to class... :)

6'5? I guess you'll be easy to spot on campus.

Do it. I'll take one of the guard spots. Bring on the business school. :)

You all are going to love ND, and this thread is giving me even more twinges of regret that I withdrew. Any soon-to-be double Domers up in here?

umm...not sure you want to do that. Emily may have the pedigree but she also has no hand-eye coordination. I'd be happy to play if you want me, but fair warning... :D

Yeah, could be fun. Good luck getting in. If you do, though, you might be committed to more hours of extracurriculars than study.

Not gonna happen. Do ballerinas actually compete, btw?

Based on my conversations with current students and the admissions office, bowling seems to be the preferred social activity at NDLS.

Law students would be able to participate in the spring bookstore basketball tournament though.

haha true true... but really.. who needs sleep??

Just kidding... studying would be my only priority, but getting some sort of physical activity in will be key to keeping me sane...

No. And I haven't really done ballet since HS so I'd probably lose even if they did. I need to find a sport to be good at. :)

I don't think that's necessary. Half the fun is experiencing, and hopefully becoming better at it in the process, a new activity.

We sure are a quiet bunch! How's everything going for everyone - housing stuff, visits, other plans?

I really have no idea what I'm doing about housing.. I think I already missed the lottery for on-campus housing, so I think I might begin craigslist shopping.

I'm living off-campus, too. Have you looked at that Irish Law guide they sent yet (it's also available in pdf on the admitted students site if you haven't gotten it yet)? There's some great info on apartments in there. I've already started calling places and narrowing down my shortlist based on the info in there. The complexes I've talked to were all really friendly and helpful. I also found a roommate through the roommate forms they have on the admitted students site.

I'm surprised at how quiet things are, but about 15% of our class is on the FB group which is a good sign. For the first time in my life I wish August would hurry up and get here. Knowing I'm leaving in 2 months is very un-motivating to being productive at work.

Seriously. (And obviously, since it's before 5 and look what I'm doing  )
