Did everyone get the Law Preview Email? Are they trying to tell us that we should do it (obviously they can't be so direct in their email, but...)

I got it. I don't think they're trying to tell us that we should do it -- they just want to make sure we are aware that there is a discount available for NYU students. The e-mail also contains a list of books that entering students might find helpful.stavand wrote:Did everyone get the Law Preview Email? Don't do Law Preview.
Here's the text of the e-mail:imdashep wrote:Where is it?
Dear Enrolling Law Student,
Some of you have asked how to best prepare for the first year of law
school. Because law school will be different from any academic endeavor
you have faced up to this point, it is probably a good idea to fully
understand the challenges you will face next fall. There are several
fine books on the market, and we have included a list of some
recommended titles at the end of this email, if you are interested. If
you decide to purchase any of these books from LawBooksForLess.com
before June 30, 2008, you can use the following coupon code to receive
10% off your order (NYU2008).
Also, a special discount is available for NYU Law students who would
like to attend Law Preview -- a week-long program that provides an
overview of law school study for entering law students. NYU Law
students who would like to attend Law Preview are eligible for a $100
discount off any 5- or 6-day Law Preview program simply by choosing the
NYU LAW discount option during registration. This offer, combined with
other enrollment discounts, can decrease the overall cost of the program
by more than 20%. See http://www.lawpreview.com for details.
Enrollment in Law Preview is completely optional. We are making you
aware of it because some students have asked about programs like this
one. Students who have enrolled in this program in the past have found
it helpful with their transition to law school. See
http://www.lawpreview.com/index.php/Stu ... monials/0/
We hope you have an enjoyable and productive summer and look forward to
welcoming you to the NYU community this fall.
Sincerely,
NYU School of Law
Office of Admissions

Are you asking where Law Preview is held? They have sessions at locations all over the country. There will be a couple sessions at NYU. Check the website.imdashep wrote:I got the email, that doesn't answer my question though. Never mind I guess.

I am absolutely doing nothing to prepare for law school besides watching as much bad tv as possible, playing video games, doing pleasure reading and going to baseball games.

NYU didn't match the $36k from Chicago. None too pleased with them right now.

Sorry to hear that.
On an unrelated note, does anyone know if there are Wachovia banks/ATM's close to the school? Which banks would be good?

i'm open to endorsement deals...
on the other hand, today was a relief from my worry that nyu wouldn't find me in india, as i got a copy of their laptop policy for the 17th time (oh and some other stuff) in the mail, just 2 weeks after it was sent.

I looked and it looks like Chase and Commerce will be the most convenient, especially if you are living in Mercer. Wachovia will be quite a hike...but do they seriously not have any ATMs inside Vanderbilt itself?

Chase atms are also in every Duane and Reade in NYC, which i think is the most popular store in NYC (i made that up, but it sounds plausible)

Is anyone living off-campus? I want to room with a law student and live in the Village. I am also open to moving to Hoboken or Jersey City. If you're interested let me know.

Duane Reade is the NYC drugstore chain (for out of towners you can find CVS and Walgreen's, but there are only a few). There's a DR about every 4 or 5 blocks, I'd say it's the second most popular store after Starbucksstavand wrote:Chase atms are also in every Duane and Reade in NYC, which i think is the most popular store in NYC (i made that up, but it sounds plausible)
