Still waiting to hear anything from Bloomington. How did they notify you? Email or regular mail?

I'm pretty excited. I was fairly sure IU was the place for me before i visited, and the visit just reinforced that. Seems like a decent college town and the law school seemed fairly low stress (for law school that is). Any idea what concentration you'll be working on guys?

I've been lurking for a little while, but I'm about to visit the campus for the open house on Friday.

Thanks, your description of the school actually helped me decide where to spend my meager funds to visit, as it's a bit tricky getting back east from Montana.
P.S. Is it realistic to expect to be able to get up to Wrigley on a regular basis from Bloomington? I have a good feeling about this year...

RonSantoRules wrote:I hope we'll (if you come to Bloomington of course) be getting up to Wrigley at least once. Chicago is about 3.5 hours from Bloomington, and if not Cincy is 2.5 hours and you could catch Reds/Cubs there. Of course you have to sell one of your major body parts to get a ticket at Wrigley Field, but that is neither here nor there. And I think this will be the year, as Fukudome will lead the Cubs to the promised land!
Don't forget that Louisville, Kentucky is only about an hour and fifteen minutes (less if you speed) from Bloomington. I recommend that you check out the Kentucky Derby at least once while you're there. It's an experience.

I have family in Louisville that says the same thing.
Random question - I'm going to be left to my own devices for dinner when I get into town on Thursday... any recommendations for vegetarian restaurants around the law school?

Hi! I'm from Bloomington and will most likely be there for law school next year after undergrad somewhere else. I can answer any questions about the town, though I don't know much about renting.

There's a vegan restaurant on the square called Roots that you might want to check out. However, if I were you I'd go to Little Tibet on Fourth Street (next to the small parking lot). They have the best curry I've ever tasted.

Any truth to the rumor that Bob Knight is going to be the new Dean of the law school?

Yes, we're very excited about this new development. We think that Bob Knight will bring the law school a new diversity sadly lacking at our peer institutions.

Apparently Indiana knows how to run a student visit. Barring a full ride from a school that hasn't replied yet, (which isn't going to happen) I'm going to be a Hoosier.

I suggest that you guys live closer to campus than College mall. All of the fun stuff (bars that even the grad students attned) are close to campus, and there are tons of great restaurants in that area. No offense to anyone that lives in teh college mall area, but every thing over there is so typical. Chilis = generic, the mall = generic, the bars = nearly nonexistant, the traffic problems = headache, etc.

Regarding Knight, well he and the university HATE each other. He was the ESPN analyst and said Indiana exactly once all March. Although, there are people talking as if the new coach is really trying to reach out to him.

Here is the bball run down:
Terrible next year (NIT at best, too many transfers, Fu-CKS recruits going else, etc)
Bubble team your 2nd year
Really good your third year

You'll learn there is nothing like Indiana bball. I will be going elsewhere for Grad school, but I will ALWAYS be a Hoosier first.

Do you know anything that is closer to campus and still cheap enough for one person to live in alone? Poolside is within walking distance from the law school, has parking available, and was the cheapest place I found within walking distance for studios and 1-bedrooms. I haven't signed any papers yet and really would like to hear someone's opinion about other options if you have any specific suggestions (I was only in Bloomington for a few hours on my visit and couldn't really look around). I guess I just found that a lot of first year law students live in Poolside and went with that (plus I can afford it), but really if you know of any better buildings I'd love to hear about them. Thanks!
