She's just being ridiculous and letting a boyfriend cloud her judgment ;) This sounds horrible, but I almost like being away from my boyfriend during school because I have a life of my own. So many couples at my college like, can't function without each other. When my boyfriend and I are together, we have a great time. When he's gone, I have someone to call 24/7 but I can still go hang out with friends without feeling bad!

...not that I would choose to go to a law school further away if all else was equal. But there are definitely perks :)

Well put. My best relationship was with a NY girl I dated after I moved to DC. We'd talk a few times a week and see each other for a full weekend every two or three weeks (sometimes more around holidays). It was a far cry from the claustrophobic dating world that was my undergrad. I loved having the freedom to go out with friends or work late without her feeling slighted. The distance gave us something to constantly look forward to, and seeing each other after a few weeks made the time spent together feel more meaningful and exciting.

Cranium is good. Drunken Cranium is better. Twelve-tequila-shot Cranium is, well, interesting.

Yay Wells, way to pull this thread back on topic!

Long distance of course isn't ideal, but I think people unfairly don't give it a chance. It's not so bad -- I've been in a long distance relationship for three years. And I'd venture to guess that my boyfriend and I are closer / have a better relationship than most couples who have been together for three years who live in the same town. Why? It's impossible to have a successful long distance relationship unless you're really into the person, you really trust each other, and you're best friends.

If your relationship can't survive long distance, you're probably not all that in love / compatible. I find most people with long distance issues tend to have serious trust / fidelity issues...

My biggest concern with having a long distance relationship is missing the physical aspects.

I get to see mine in six days! Boyfriend + beach = happy me.

Canwait -- this is true, but if you're crazy enough about the person, then being with them occasionally sure beats never.

I'd be willing to do the long-distance thing for someone I really loved and thought I could have a future with, I just haven't been in that situation yet.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
