Re: Wake Forest class of 2011
Really unfortunate news about Professor Rose, though I'm glad that he's getting better. From my limited experience thus far, he's certainly the most engaging professor I have. I'm actually interested in the crim law course...imagine that! (For those of you who don't know, he went in for a standard procedure on wednesday and had an infection spread through his whole body by thursday afternoon...he was in ICU over the weekend but should be back by sometime next week).
Pure speculation, and I'm sorry if it's inappropriate:
I had a worry about which hospital he went to, and sadly learned that he went to Forsyth. I know they were able to successfully birth my niece, but with reports the past few years of an abnormally high amount of sponges and surgical tools left inside of patient's bodies, I don't exactly trust them. According to some people I talked to (hooray for hear-say), it's totally normal for a local infection (staph or otherwise) to appear at the area of incision (assuming his procedure required one of course)...but the kind of infection that goes throughout your whole body in 24 hours? You need to get bacteria straight into the blood stream. Usually that occurs because of dirty surgical tools.
I'm really glad he's doing okay and should be able to come back next week, but this makes me trust FMC even less.

Re: Wake Forest class of 2011
I was hoping someone with more knowledge would answer your question, but I'll try.
I think Wake places pretty well in SC. I would think it's two main places are NC and SC. SC doesn't really have that strong of a law school there so I would assume most of the firms there are taking a lot of NC grads. Of course if there are Duke kids that want the same job, you may be pushed aside. Same with kids from SCU because of some alumni connections. But other than that I think Wake Forest is just as at par with UNC and probably even better (but I must say I am a bit bias).

Re: Wake Forest class of 2011
I posted this in another forum, but...
I'm looking at Wake Forest (my numbers suggest that I would most likely get in), but I have an interest in studying IP law (to eventually become a patent lawyer). How is Wake with IP law? Is it a school worth considering given those future career plans?

Re: Wake Forest class of 2011
Our professor may be the worst time manager in the world, so we didn't get our Memo 2's back until about 2ish weeks ago, about three or so days before the rough draft of Memo 3 was due. So that due date got pushed back, causing our Memo 3 due date to be pushed back, which wouldn't have been so bad if she hadn't left town this weekend, and was more or less unavailable for questions the past week. So half of our class turned it in on yesterday (including me, so I'm free!), while the other half has to turn it in tomorrow. It's a huge mess, but at this point, I'm just glad it's over with.Supermario wrote:what do they have to put up with? Sorry I live in my section 3/4 bubble
I really feel for whichever section has to write that attorney memo. I'm burnt out from Memo 3, I doubt I would be able to put coherent sentences together.
But 1 credit down, 13 to go.

I spoke with one of your professors, Tim Davis, for a newspaper story about a lawsuit filed by a college player demanding she be paid for the scholarship she was promised, but never given. He's a real sharp guy. I'd say you guys are lucky to have someone like him around.

Yeah I have to write the attorney memo... I am not happy.
BTW, that really sucks Whenpigsfly, sorry about that.

Re: Wake Forest class of 2011
my first post and it's a whiner
only contracts and civpro left!
exam difficulty evaluations thus far: [1: easy, 10: ahhhh]
crim: 8.5 <-- when you think crim is this hard, this is not a good sign
torts: 9.5
predictions:
contracts: 6
civpro: 7
i think i seriously might've failed torts and/or crim (typical post-exam-failure hyperbole? no. i am honestly serious.)
i wish this school wouldn't do all this multiple-choice crap. it's REALLY taking away from my essays
good luck to everyone on these last two!

Re: Wake Forest class of 2011
Yeah, I'm really not a big fan of multiple choice either. And does a 9.5 on Torts mean you had the unfortunate closed book exam? Cause I really felt for Section 2.raf wrote:i wish this school wouldn't do all this multiple-choice crap. it's REALLY taking away from my essays
And if you're feeling that bad, I'm sure everyone else is too. That's where the curve comes in to save the day!

Re: Wake Forest class of 2011
Just one more! Especially after today's, I'm ready to have these done so I can move on with my life.
Too bad I've felt the least comfortable about civ pro all semester and open book exams scare the crap out of me far more than closed book exams (I know, I know, I should really cry about it shouldn't I?)

I'm more nervous that my memorizing everything isn't really going to work, and that older students are just lying to me to see me fail.
Oh and the big D's he gives out to students, scare me too.

I thought this meant that I got to win something, then I used my brain.wfu12 wrote: go to win
Hope you all have/had/are having a good break (and/or job search if you've started). Don't forget that OCI stuff starts in early Feb if that's your thing.
Lishi: first TLS, then the world?
Oh, and for those of you wondering about what your GPA might mean, I saw a slightly updated list of GPA vs class standing from what whenpigsfly posted awhile ago. Take it with a grain of salt, as it's from 2005, but it may still give you a picture of where you are.
Top 10% 88.8
Top 20% 86.9
Top 33% 86.4
Top 50% 84.9
Top 75% 83.2
From: http://www.bcgsearch.com/pdf/BCG_Law_Sc ... e_2007.pdf
Or you could always mail the registrar with a request, or do they not release standing for 1Ls until after the full first term?
Also, does anyone else have 3 GPA hours for this semester already? Does our contracts grade carry over? Am I just delusional?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
