First, you all are awesome for bringing the topic back to beer.

I'm with hwmyones on Stella. It's a bit girly for me anyway, although it is a hell of a summer beer. Same with Becks...although it might be more like a woman with hair on her chin. Seeing that AB distributes red hook and Widmer bros made me happy.

In other news, it looks like I'll miss the July housing day, as I bought concert tickets for that weekend long ago. At least I'll see you all in August.

That's exactly my style.

So that leaves us lots of options..good things we have lots of Fri. and Sat. nights :-)
Nice finds, HW. That should keep us busy for a little while (if The Lumiere doesn't).

I know someone already mentioned this, but I can't remember if there were very many responses. Is anyone planning on doing the Student Mentor thing? I mean, I'm really not interested in having someone calling me a bunch and trying to "connect" with me through "things that interest me" or anything, but it doesn't seem like a bad idea to have someone who has been a 1L before give you an idea on things like study habits, what professors are like, what class you might could miss versus ones you really don't need to, etc.

What are y'all's thoughts? (considering my advocacy in the TLS anti-South thread, I had to go with the southern plural you)

Also, don't forget you'd be living in a city with more unemployed people. For InBev to pay the amount their offering, they will have to axe a bunch of staff, which new articles said they have done elsewhere. Plus you're right... InBev hall?

First, I think you got your quotes all messed up because that quote should be attributed to hwmyones not me.

Second, the articles I read, which included the comments from the InBev PR people and not just the bitter/scared St. Louis population, indicated that they don't plan to all of a sudden let a lot of people go. They actually intend to move the base for US operations for all their brands to St. Louis. "Eager to ease fears about the takeover, InBev chief executive Carlos Brito said that Anheuser-Busch's hometown of St. Louis would not be only the headquarters of the combined group's North American business but also its international brands." Also Britos said: "There will be no closure of US breweries as part of this transaction." The addition of the headquarters for all the international brands would potentially actually add jobs to St. Louis. That is the InBev spin on the situation so I would bet reality would be someplace between the two extremes. Article where I got above quotes

Third, while I realize you were all joking, it would still be Anheuser-Busch Hall. It is named after the Anheuser-Busch Foundation and is not a company sponsorship like sports stadium naming rights.

Regardless of what people think is going to happen with an InBev buyout we all need to accept it because it is likely to happen. Warren Buffett (5% stakeholder in A-B) has already said it is a great move to approve the buyout and when Warren does something people follow suit - Article (LinkRemoved). Also the offer price is at such a premium over what the stock was previously trading at stockholders would almost be crazy to not approve the offer. The only alternative, which I have heard rumblings about, is that if the offer falls through InBev may just team up with the new SABMiller/MolsonCoors conglomeration - Article. The InBev/MolsonCoors/SABMiller grouping would be so large and have such a huge market share that AB would be in serious trouble.

I'm doing the Student Mentor program. Except my application was kind of hilarious. I'm interested to see who they pair me with. Although, when they asked me what my future career plans were...I definitely put Lawyer.
SMC, you'll be happy to know i spent 2 hours at Lumiere last week...my bank account was not happy about it.

Wonderful. Just don't get it all out of your system before we're both in STL. I need someone sitting beside me reminding me not to split 6's against a 10.

Yeah, I like rezipsa, so I was always interested in what he had to say. Instead, I would click on this thread and find he had 6 messages that I never got a chance to read. Disappointing.
