Anyway, I guess I'll see ya chumps later! Good luck, I'm sure you'll all make Order of the Coif three years from now :D

Good luck next year, lukertin (that's right, I'm sticking with the original). Have fun in... D.C., is it?

Hey Guys,

So I just got off the phone with MOEHLA. They are the lender that is part of the Wash U. as Lender Program. So apparnently, contrary to what is presented desceptively on the initial page, the 3% interest rate reduction for automatic payments ia null and void on loans issued after July 1, 2008, i.e. for all of us. It is now only a .25% reduction.

Just thought I should inform everyone who hasn't chosen a lender yet

That is very not cool. I don't see why they can't just issue my loan on June 30th. If that is the case I might have to seriously consider a different lender. I am especially upset by the fact that they advertised it as the 3% reduction when we all were deciding on lenders and then secretly changed it to 0.25% I could understand a change from 3% to 2.75% or something but a 92% reduction in the benefit is highway robbery.

I submitted my Master Promissory Note online through their site 1.5 months ago and it still does not recognize a loan associated with my SSN. I wonder if this a MOHELA problem or a problem with WashU not telling them how much money to give me.

WashU seems to have removed the handy chart they had showing the benefit from each lender. Will people post the benefits they think they will receive from other lenders so we can all make an informed decision now?

Have you guys taken that Entrance/Loan webinar thing (that's apparently required for first-time loan applicants before the WooSTL can disburse your funds)? I think it lasts a half hour or so.

Yeah. That Entrance counseling isn't too bad. It is basically 7 pages to read with a couple questions for each section.

This information is fairly useless right now since we don't know our sections yet but I still found it interesting.

Wow, 8:40 is so early. I don't think I've ever woken up that early in the history of my college career (excluding summers)

The other sections all start at 9:00 so that is not really that much of a difference.

I like how there is nothing after noon on Fridays. Of course the downside is I don't think the happy hours are until around 4:00 so I will have several hours to kill before drinking.

Edit: Fixed the quoting

to think i voluntarily took an 8 am class my final semester! granted it was all 4th years, and we were all hungover all the time. but it makes 8:40 not seem so bad...

Lxw wrote:Well rezipsa, due to my geekiness I performed a 2-sample T test on this year's attendees on LSN vs last year's attendees on LSN.

From the sample, there is a 1% likelihood that the last year's average index is equal to or better than this year's average index.

That's 99% likelihood that this year's attendees are better than last year's.

Rejoice?

Further analysis shows that this year's LSAT averages blow last year's out of the water (0.2% likelihood last year's average LSAT is better than or equal to this year's), while the GPAs of both years are statistically equal.

Those numbers are slightly inflated because they are based on an assumption you have a random sample from the entire pool of attending students. LSN is a self-selected group so it is really not a random sample. However, LSN did seem to do a fairly good job of representing the true student population for WashU last year. For the full class of 2010 the MEDIAN GPA and LSAT respectively are 3.6 and 166 (from the class profile on the admitted student site) and LSN gives MEANS of 3.51 and 165.9 for the 16 student sample. While mean and median are not directly comparable they do begin to paint a nice picture.

Yea, I know, but I had to do it anyway and publish the results.
