I love this board. We're not talking about lawschool. We're talking about drinking and gambling. My two biggest vices. The $500 thing is just a buy in. If you make $1000 you can keep playing with the $1500 all you want because you have the chips already. You just can only buy $500 in chips every 2 hours.

That's good, there's nothing i hate more than being dominated by someone just because he can use his large stack to push people around, thinking he's the greatest player to grace the table when in reality he sucks ass and wouldn't last a minute in tournament play.

women are never a vice! actually, i just did basically the biggest asshole thing i've done in forever. I unasked a girl to my formal so I could ask the girl I hooked up with last night. Oy vey my life is ridiculous. I need to get out of this town.

As for poker, I mean, at the Casinos in Florida, it's $100 max buy in at a time for no limit. so $500 would b ea step up..

Casinos in Missouri do have them, not that I have the money or the inclination to play there.

As far as the drink situation goes, if you want to drink and gamble don't go to Lumiere. Right across the river on the Illinois side, at Casino Queen, you can get $1 drafts every night. I don't think Illinois has the $500 stop-loss rule either. And its actually about as nice as Lumiere, although the crowd is noticeably less refined. I believe Lumiere has only $10 minimum and up as far as blackjack, whereas it starts at $5 at the Queen.

Edit: And that fact that I'm posting this info on this thread makes me really happy that I'm going to Wash U next fall.

The tables in Lumiere's high limit room are only $25 max bet.

No, I played $5 blackjack all night long at the Lumiere. Granted, it was a Monday night, and they may raise it on the weekends, but there were $5 blackjack, roulette and craps all night long (and I was there 'till almost 2 a.m.).

As for the poker, if my memory serves me correctly, they had $3-6 limit, $4-8 limit, and either $2-4 or $1-2 no limit, with a minimum buy-in for the no limit being $100.

I dont' think they have any sort of high roller high-limit action at those casinos, because if they did, they'd need to be able to comp certain things, and they can't...maybe they will once the hotel opens?

Ah, you know what, they probably didn't have them because the only time I went was the night it opened. My friends and I were so disappointed by drink prices (which actually went up as the night went on, not joking, at 10 a beer was $3.00, at 12 same beer was $4.50) that we went to Casino Queen and had a better time and I haven't been back since.

the casinos just got a bill into the missouri legislature which would remove (or increase) loss limits. so those of you who want to lose more than $500 every few hours may be in luck.

I didn't think drink prices were too bad. I was drinking a premium beer for $3.50, and that's better than I pay at a lot of bars (of course, the whole "paying for drinks at a casino" thing is still ridiculous to me). By the end of the night, a guy at the table was buying margaritas for everyone, and they were only $3. They tasted good, but by that time, just about anything would have, so I guess I can't really speak to the quality.

I finally got a chance to visit the school yesterday, and I loved it. The two girls that gave the tour were great. They answered all the group's questions in detail and seemed very honest in their replies. I opted not to attend their Civ Pro class only because I was dying of hunger and wanted to scope out the nighborhoods (which were beautiful) while the weather was still nice.

I plan on attending the June housing day, but I'll probably start doing a bit of my own research before hand. Also, I just submitted the online roomate questionarie; has anyone else messed around with that? I wonder how the restults will be determined/displayed.
