Awwwww, KN, that makes me so much more nervous to start. I'm jealous of you already having the opportunity to freak out though! I'm sure it wasnt as bad as you thought it was...

How's has the pre-orientation been?

It didn't really help that I'm still exhausted from driving like a madman to get here.

I got the sense that it happens to most people and that you just get over it after a while, so I don't think there's any reason to get nervous about it. And it isn't like the perception of your classmates will make any difference when it comes to grading.

Glad to see more Section C people.

Not so glad about the laptop ban.

Or the homework when I still have not completely finished Lincoln.

Kn, I thought you did fine. I did chuckle a bit when you asked a question, and the professor threw back a question to you, and you just said, "i dunno." :)

Yeah, that was when I got nervous and just decided to say I dunno instead of yammering out what I was thinking. I just couldn't make myself babble like that.
I have some habits to break, that's for sure.

Between textbooks.com and barristerbooks.com...I'm about to spend $620.00 on books, and another 30 or so books to have them shipped 2 day air to Ithaca so I get them on Monday. :(

And, I still have another 4 books for lawyering and another 1 for Civ Pro.

Is the list price listed on textbooks.com and barrister books what we would actually be paying at the Cornell Store? I'm just trying to make sure this is still worth it.

If you are worried about spending the money on books before loans are disbursed, you can enroll in a "cornellcard" that is connected to your student ID. It has a $10 annual fee. Anyway, you can use it at places like the bookstore, and I think you get a $850 limit. If you're short on cash but want your books now, it's not a bad option. You can just pay it off when your loans come in.

Its not even about being short on cash. Its about wanting to make sure that I'm actually getting a better deal by buying them online. I want to know how much they would cost at the Cornell store to make sure I'm not getting screwed, but I can't even access my booklist through the site right now (luckily a section mate was kind enough to send me the booklist w/ ISBN #s).

But they should still be cheaper online, right?

I just don't want to spend 620 bucks w/o being sure.

Public service announcement for section A people who won't/ can't buy used books: the total for the required books came to $865.

Also, the following have been confirmed as cool folks:
KidA23, sunking1456, fsohn, niclaw, LeahNic

Another question...when you guys are going to the bookstore, are you just bringing a copy of your schedule? Or were you able to print your booklist somewhere?

I printed out the booklists from the Cornell bookstore website (just Google "Cornell book store" and it's the first one). From your Blackboard page it shows your exact course #s, and these are each on the Cornell b-store website with their associated books and prices.

BTW, buying all the Section C books from the Cornell store will total $995. And I only wish I were kidding.

Wonderful.

I found a bunch of them online for a little bit less than list price, so maybe I'll just order those. I'll be looking at spending about 900 anyway...but, it will save $95.00.

The bookstore site isn't letting me access anything :(

Campbell-- are you logging in to your net id and immediately afterward trying to log into the bookstore? For some reason the bookstore doesnt let me in unless it seems I have JUST logged in with my net id. You might have another issue, but I know I have had that problem.

And I am buying about half of my Section A books new and half used. I'll probably spend about $650-700. Plus the lovely supplements that apparently we will learn about in the first couple of weeks.

Its actually not letting me log in at all...though I got in earlier and it told me that it had no booklist for me. Awesome.

Once I totaled everything, with tax, it may not be any cheaper to buy books elsewhere. Oh well.

I bought a couple Section A books used and the rest new, though I'm still missing an "optional" one since the store ran out. :/ Grand total: $750ish. UGH. The used books at the store are not as cheap as the ones I've seen online, though. I also heard a store called Kraftee's in Collegetown sells used books, but the law books are still on order, apparently.

Pre-orientation's been kinda exhausting, On the plus side, I'm learning my way around the law school building finally. :P

Oh and did anyone visit the gym yet? As if the 30 morning hike isn't already a workout, I'm planning to visit there often.

I went to Helen Newman the other day, and it was kinda meh. Definitely an older building (I think that's where the AOPers had their bowling night) and the equipment was...well, not new. But it's doable. That was the only gym I was able to talk my way into without my ID card (I'm not in the AOP thing).

I've heard from a few 1Ls who have gone to Noyes that it's pretty nice, but still a tad on the small side. I'd imagine that's pretty much the only gym we'd ever use, anyway.

I'm on the left, row 5 or so? Seat #46, lol.

We should do a TLS AOP lunch or something! The only one at AOP that I've consciously met so far is Goldenbear, I think.
