Agreed -- much of the book is interesting (except for some of the detailed exposition about 19th century styles of oratory). If you find yourself in a bind, I found that there were really 5-6 pages in various parts of the book that outline the legal theses that our discussion will likely focus on. If your situation is dire and you want to skip to the heart of the book (as I read it anyway), PM me.

But seriously, read it, if for nothing else than to set a good precedent for reading assignments going in. It's really short, actually, when you don't count the extensive appendices and notes.

Has anybody received their fall tuition bill yet? The website says they go out in mid-July, but I've not gotten one.

Fall tuition e-bill can be found by logging into uPortal (does anybody else hate the design interface as much as I do?), clicking on the "Just the Facts" section found under the "Student" tab. Cornell is paperless, so you'll never get your statement in the mail, which is a shame, in my opinion. The due date is coming up fast, for those without the benefit of loans to ride it out, August 8th is when fall semester's tuition is due. I'm pretty sure there's a tuition payment plan you can sign up for somewhere on the bursar website. According to their website,

FALL 2008 TUITION BILLS will be available to view online beginning July 19, 2008. An e-mail notification will be sent to your Cornell e-mail address notifying you that the bill is available to view. The bill is due by August 8, 2008, and must be paid in full in order to register for the Fall 2008 semester.

You should have received an email from the bursar's office with a link to the site. You need to sign up (takes 2 seconds).

You can then see your bill/review it, and pay it. I believe they are due next friday (the 8th).

The email said that you will get an email every month with a link to your bill.

What the hell? The site said I was sharing a locker with some guy, now it says I'm sharing a locker with: no one.

I feel rejected.

I'll be living 2 miles from campus, and walking/biking as weather allows, so I'm really going to need that locker. I wanted to bond with someone over a locker, though!

Wait. What? I just activated my account, ... and I don't have any emails. Nor did I receive anything about tuition to my regular email. Are you guys all telling me that you've all been contacted already about this?

Lately, the only thing I've heard from Cornell is that they need an official transcript from my undergrad. Should I contact them? I definitely wouldn't want to miss the tuition deadline (obviously)!

Yeah. Perhaps you should call them and find out what's up.

Seconded. They've been amazing in answering any and all of my (sometimes stupid) questions.

Maybe they didn't send it to your Cell email because it had not yet? (I'm amused that you had not done that already--I was all over it the day I got it--I'm such a loser).

And Yes, KN, I think it is because we live so close. I'm really sad about it-I also wanted to bond with someone over a locker.

my locker pal is still the same.... I think I may send her some sort of email/ facebook message so that she does not think I am a locker stalker come school time....

any other housekeeping details we should all make sure each other is on top of? or maybe we can complain about the pre-orientation again?

I'm totally jealous and you and you having a locker buddy.

I feel like my lack of a locker buddy, paired with not attending the pre-orientation, is going to seriously stump social growth in law school.

On the same vein, ... I haven't heard anything about my locker. Was that in an email too? Ha.

I'm making her a mix cd too.... so far, I've got Clay Aiken "Invisible" and Gwar's "Saddam a Go-Go".... any suggestions?
