Ya, the AdmitNet username and pw worked for me. You should call them up tomorrow, Im sure theyd be happy to help.

So, not too excited by the info on the site. But, then again, Im not the biggest fan of orientations. Im still waiting for the REALLY REALLY exciting stuff such as the housing and class list (yiiiikes about not getting that until orientation..so I guess Ill have to go).

Oh and just finished Ivy Briefs. Not as good as 1L, but it was fine. She was trying too hard to be funny and clever at times and all the Yale hatin was a bit much. Also, she depicts the CLS people as uber competitive, which, if true, would be sort of a bummer.

And yay MC. Awesome decision!

Congrats on the decision, MC! I just got Ivy Briefs in the mail, the Amazon reviews indicate it might not be great but I can't resist a book about CLS.

A book about a woman who attended CLS. Fairly entertaining and a very quick read, take a look if you have time this summer. :D

Just keep in mind, its probably not going to make you excited about going to CLS. Just like 1L doesnt make a person excited to go to HLS. However, 1L was written about the class of 78, while Ivy Briefs is written about the class of 97 (I think), so one would take the latter to be more indicative of today's experience.

If I were going to any other law school, I would think it was funny and a good read. But, I was left thinking "Im going there. uh oh."

Then again, just as the subtitle says, she is very neurotic and shes not a fan of pi work so Im hoping my experience is different.

Has anyone else not gotten an email about the orientation page yet? I'm starting to feel left out/concerned about my email, since I usually get stuff from admissions pretty quickly...

I got the email yesterday at about noon. Are you receiving your other email fine?

There may be some problems with Columbia's computers, because I still cannot login to the orientation website. I emailed the IT help desk yesterday but haven't heard back.

Other email is working ok, I'll give it a week or so before I ask. Their website acts up every time they release something new for us to log on to...

Has anyone received a housing assignment yet? I received a notice that my application had been approved (which was a bit funny- I didn't realize that our applications had to be approved, since we're guaranteed housing and all), but no assignment yet. Just curious if anyone else has one.

I think "application approved" means that someone at the law school has looked at it, has confirmed that you are an admitted student (and not just a random person who wants to live in subsidized housing) and that you filled it out correctly, so that your application is now with the housing office (= not a part of the law school).

Are the housing approvals and assignments done on a rolling basis?

I just got assigned to 420 W. 116th Street for housing. Do any current students have any information about it? Are the apartments generally smaller or larger? I'm very excited about going to Columbia. See everyone there in August.

congratulations on your assignment! Did you specifically request that building? Seems like a great place to live.

Did you also get an approval email? How long was it between hearing that your application was approved and getting an assignment?

My application was approved 9 AM CST and I got my offer around 11 am CST.

That building was third on my list of preferred properties, but I am very happy with it. Good luck on your housing!! What kind of housing are you hoping to get?

For those of you who already got the approval/assignment email, when did you fill out your housing application?

I filled in my housing application right after I sent my deposit... I think the day before May 1st.

I got my approved email at 10 AM this morning, but still no assignment, so I'm clearly not on the same schedule as stephenr86. I asked for a regular UAH share though, so maybe those take longer to match up than the law school-specific buildings.

Ah ok, in that case assignments aren't given out based on order of submission. I did mine a week or so before May 1st, and I haven't received either the approval or the assignment email yet. I also requested UAH.

I got my housing assignment too -- though not many details about it! Does anyone know anything about 400 West 119th Street? The email only said that it's a one bedroom. At least the rent is cheapish -- that was a priority for me.

I guess they don't do housing on a first come first serve basis... :(
Fingers crossed that 115th isn't completely filled yet.

Isn't 420 on 116th street the one where many professors live?

Can anyone believe that the Virginia law school class of 2011 thread is 177 pages, and ours is only 7?

Yeah, I got assigned a time to move in as well (the week of July 28th through August 1st)

The email noted that assignments were made based on move in dates. I also filled out my housing application about a month in advance. Hope that information helps. I bet everyone should be getting their assignment within the next day or two.
