Re: Georgetown Law Class of 2011
I think Gewirz would be fine if you know who your roommate is. The singles are so expensive, though. The GULC budget gives you about 1150 per month for rent and utilities...those singles are like 1450 per month. Seems like you would either have to take out a private loan to cover the difference or have the money saved.

I'll be walking into law school with about 7k (I think). I plan on using that to cover the difference if I luck out and get a single.

Re: Georgetown Law Class of 2011
I guess that helps. My ideal plan is to explore and see what the prices are and such, maybe make a few friends in Gerwitz, so that I know what I'm doing apartment/roommate wise. I do know this. I will pay money to be close. I commuted all of undergrad (45 mins-1 1/4 hour each way depending on traffic) and I commute now an hour+ each way to work now. I am so tired of it. I just want a break before the inevitable commute of a starting attorney.

I also entered the Gewirz housing lottery. I think it is too convenient to pass up for the first year and it is a good place to meet friends and future roommates.

Sent in my deposit yesterday. Would still bail if I get off the waitlist I want to get off, and I refuse to refer to myself as a Hoya (SU fan), but I'm otherwise excited.
Good question scout, who is considering Curr B?

I'm going with A, B does seem pretty cool though.

i've heard the same thing. more reading and work, but supposedly it's more interesting. i've also heard books are a little tougher to get.
here is an old curriculum b thread with some good sockpuppet in it

I'm in for curriculum B. Pretty excited about it. It was the tipping point for me in choosing schools (that and $$) - so I hope it lives up to my expectations.

I am leaning towards B, but I don't think that we request our curriculum until June or something like that. I can't wait until move in day...it's going to be great:) And for all of my fellow 0Ls that have put down Gewirz deposits...just wait until you see the view from the roof of our soon to be apt building...it's awesome

is it dumb to pick curriculum b if you are (a) fairly conservative and (b) know you want to go into corporate law?

Re: Georgetown Law Class of 2011
I would say absolutely not, as long as (a) you appreciate hearing different perspectives and (b) you won't get angry if people don't share your views.Holly Madison wrote:is it dumb to pick curriculum b if you are (a) fairly conservative and (b) know you want to go into corporate law?
Honestly, I wouldn't want to take Curriculum B if I thought it would just be left-wingers nodding their heads to the resounding liberal echo. I think that a diverse array of backgrounds & positions gives a much more enriching discussion.
