I put down my deposit for the school and the housing lottery yesterday. I get more excited about it everyday. And to think I almost didn't apply...

I also just entered the lottery. I called though and they said that basically all 1Ls that want housing have gotten it in past years, though they also point out that it isn't a guarantee.
Funny ludo, I almost didn't apply either...really glad that I did and super excited to get to DC in August!!

Re: Georgetown Law Class of 2011
i guess i have until tuesday to decide between uva and georgetown. especially since they gave me some money, i am leaning towards uva, but georgetown's location keeps drawing me back... i am definitely a city girl.
thoughts, advice? i wasn't able to visit, so any reviews/information would be helpful.

here are some pictures from the facebook group:

i guess i'd probably recommend uva because they gave you money, but georgetown might be a better fit for you if you are looking for a bigger school in a city with more of a professional than collegiate feel, opportunities to work during the school year for federal courts and agencies, etc. I met with a professor last week who said he has several students working during the semester in congress, the white house, etc - which you wouldn't necessarily get in charlottesville.
i'm on the wait list at uva so i've never had to make the choice but I think I would still probably choose georgetown. it's just more what i'm looking for.

I am so willing to pay more for a single. I've never lived with anyone other than family before. So I really don't want to adjust to roommates, law school, and the east coast all at once.random248 wrote:This is definitely a relief to hear! I'm guessing the singles are hard to come by, but good to know that we will most likely get spots somewhere in Gewirz.spree234 wrote:I also just entered the lottery. Quick question: What is the '08-'09 estimated cost of attendance at GULC? I see tuition is going up to just over $42K, but how much is the full student budget? I'm looking here, but I can't find the full budget for off-campus living: http://www.law.georgetown.edu/finaff/st ... ition.html

Oh my gosh, that GYM!gollymolly wrote:Sent in my deposit today and I'm super excited!! There are still a couple things that could make me go elsewhere but I'm about 95% sure I'm going and 100% excited. Especially about that gym!!
I sent the housing application a few days ago. I indicated that I preferred a single room, too, but I believe there are only 23 available, counting the one "large" one.
For me the major downfall of living in Gewirz is that I wouldn't be able to bring my kitty

Re: Georgetown Law Class of 2011
When I put down the order, I put the three bedroom ones above the two bedrooms with no living room. That would suck. I really hope I don't get one of those.
How closely did you guys look at the floor plans? Did you notice in one of the three bedrooms all three are the same size (roughly), but in the other one there's one bedroom that's way bigger? That's a fight I just don't want to have.

The floor plans kind of depress me. I currently occupy three different bedrooms in my parents' house, so the Gewirz website gives me claustrophobia.

I am so pumped now that I've finally committed! This whole process has caused me so much stress - from the lsats to getting my apps in at the last minute to the waiting game to the choosing between schools... What a great relief to be done with everything. Lets go Hoyas!

Oddly, I've come full circle and think I'm going to enter the Gewirz lottery with my girlfriend. Didn't think I would, crazy. Floor plans are soooo small, but it's hard to beat that convenience.
Sucks about the "no kitty" rule though, I'm all about cats.

You sir have an extremely dirty mind. Katiemarie mentioned that she can't bring her cat with her to stay at Gewirz.Ludo wrote:Is this a euphemistic poke at an upstanding Jesuit institution? And I saw katie's post. Just the way you worded it combined with I remembered you asking about if they'd be ok with you and your girlfriend in the same apartment. It just seemed suspect... I need to get some friends that are girls.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
