the girl told me that they do have extended cable in there and we can rent it out for parties....for instance, some guys were renting it this weekend for beer and NCAA basketball

annnnd...everyone should just move there because while it may seem expensive at first, think how much you would be spending for an apt in dc or nyc if you went to school there...and they're just SO nice

I don't know whether to feel embarrassed or proud that I have no idea what/who "Gossip Girl" is...

How is the management at Woodlands? Typically their properties seem nice, but the one in Athens had a lot of management issues...

That's the one thing that worries me..I can't find a review for them anywhere because it's so new. But this location isn't geared towards undergraduates like the other locations.aguyingeorgia wrote:How is the management at Woodlands? Re: UVA Class of 2011 Housing Thread
The Woodlands is very nice, but I don't think it's like a resort. Pools, theaters, business centers, etc are pretty standard where I live and you can find those amenities at other c-ville apts for less money. I do think the woodlands is more aesthetically pleasing than the other apts I've seen though and the pools are huge!
I guess my main problem with the woodlands (other than the price ) is the lack of closet space (the 2brs don't have walk-ins). I think it's a great option for roommates due to the bedroom/bathroom set-up, but I want a 2nd bedroom as an office so its kind of a weird set-up for that.

J have you leased already? I'm more than likely going to buy if I end up at UVA... but would welcome 1-2 TLS'ers who like sports, beer, don't smoke, and don't have ducks as pets...

It's not expensive if you're sharing, but i want a 2bedroom to myself and it's too expensive for that.tkm. wrote:annnnd...everyone should just move there because while it may seem expensive at first, think how much you would be spending for an apt in dc or nyc if you went to school there...and they're just SO nice

No, I haven't leased already . . . and you're gonna buy a townhouse as opposed to leasing it? And I watch just about all sports, I heart beer, don't smoke . . . except for the occasional cigar, and no ducks

The sales rep I talked to was extremely nice and helpful, and I was very impressed. She said there's an on-call maintenance guy who will come fix things. It is almost entirely Darden/Law students and families, and the community was very peaceful. I am not worried.aguyingeorgia wrote:How is the management at Woodlands? Miss VA -- Gossip Girl is a show about spoiled upper east side high schoolers. It's ridiculous, but also ridiculously entertaining!

Re: UVA Class of 2011 Housing Thread
Oh i agree, but a lot more people live at the woodlands, so that's part of the reason the gym is so much bigger. I'm not saying that carriage hill is nicer than the woodlands - i mean the woodlands has granite, SS, huge pools, etc. But i prefer to work-out in my room so that's not a problem for me (plus there's the gym near the law school) and I can use the pool at the woodlands because I'll come visit you guys . Like I said i think the woodlands is great for sharing, I just wouldn't pay the extra because I won't have a roommate to split the cost. It would cost me an extra $10,000 to live in the woodlands for all three years and it just isn't worth it for me because i don't like the floorplans and most of the amenities don't appeal to me (i don't use tanning booths, i don't play basketball, tennis, etc).tkm. wrote:the gym at carriage hill did not compare...at all

Cville is all about the squirrels, very few ducks.

Even better. Though squirrels are nuts, ducks are quack!

Where are you looking to buy? I've heard a lot of people do this and I've thought about it, but it scares me to buy a house when I don't have an income. I'm still sorta considering it though - can you tell me a bit more about you decision to buy?aguyingeorgia wrote:J have you leased already? Exactly. I get so excited when I think about the crazy house I'll be able to afford in less than 10 years. If I'm single then a little over $1 mil and if I'm married hopefully at least $1.75 mil (there's a good chance I may make more than my future husband).sialeeds wrote:Man, I love the light at the end of the tunnel.cantwaitforuva wrote:I didn't do anything.
