a couple of these avatars are going to get me in trouble at some point. i'm going to run into the real holly madison (or travel back in time and run into vivien leigh), and I'll run up, say hi, and give an awkward hug as she screams, and a bodyguard tackles me.ubuntu wrote:
it would have been glorious. i'm picturing it now, except with everyone's avatars since, you know, we all haven't actually met yet.

and maybe bilko just put up a picture of some random dog, and i'm going to see it in a yard somewhere, assume that it's cool for me to take it out for a walk, and BAM, tazer in the back of the head.

That dog is about 7 lbs. and people assume it's female because "she's so cute". It wouldn't be "cool" to take him for a walk even if he is mine.

Congrats!!!! You're my hero. I could have never done that much work...
Bilko -- I get so pissed when people think my dog is a "she." He's just so... masculine looking, I have no idea how people mistake his gender. But I've always had male dogs, so I tend to assume most dogs are male; people who have female dogs also tend to assume dogs are female. I guess it's just what you're used to.

Thanks guys.
And I move one month from today, so I'm pretty excited.
Sadly what should be a victory day will instead be spent cleaning because my family is coming tomorrow morning.

It's all good, I'm the token anti-feminist woman. In middle school, the girls wanted to play guys versus girls basketball. I was like, "No, we'll lose... that's stupid." They got all offended, so then I was like, "fine... guys + me versus girls." After like five minutes they were losing so horribly that they gave up and claimed that it "wasn't fair." Some things guys are just genetically better than girls at. Like sports. Some things girls are just genetically better than guys at. Like multi-tasking.

Feminism doesn't mean that guys and girls are equal in all things. I consider myself a feminist because by definition a feminist is someone who believes that men and women should have equal rights.sialeeds wrote:It's all good, I'm the token anti-feminist woman. Men are the ones that need looking after. Laundry, cooking, cleaning - you guys are generally hopeless.readinmonotone wrote:See, I just assume anything that needs looking after is female...
Both times my mom came to visit me, my dad got food poisoning because he's not so great in the kitchen.
BTW I had to help my best friend (a guy) build his new furniture - he sucked at it and I rocked!! He was so embarassed, it was great.

He was playing for pity points. It's a common strategy.
Wait, do I get a corner of my man-card removed for revealing that?

It's cool. I'm on probation since admitting I watched 3 episodes of Gossip Girl.

Sweet. And the bonus points for allowing guys to 1) play with my son and 2) hold my baby daughter to impress the ladies brings up my total.

Same here. I once knew a girl who considered herself a feminist because she decorated her purse to make it look like a vagina (somewhat artistically, not graphically). I think she's grown up since then and is now pretty cool. yay for 15-year-old pseudofeminists?cantwaitforuva wrote: Feminism doesn't mean that guys and girls are equal in all things. prosecutor: and do you see that man in the courtroom today?
cute cartoon animal: ....
prosecutor: don't be afraid, just point him out.
cute cartoon animal: it was...him!
[gasps and murmuring throughout the courtroom]
judge: order...order!!!
[my attorney leans over and whispers something in my ear]

That last avatar was Hammy from the Over the Hedge movie. Just one example of the many, many Pixar or Disney characters I've learned to love. Or at least to tolerate. Or sing along with...I'm not saying I know every song of Muppet Treasure Island by heart, now, but I have been known to hum "Bella Notte" while I'm rocking the baby. Or doing dishes. Or taking a shower.
