Also, unless you're interested in the prestige of BigLaw, it's possible you could get a good salary in Birmingham. Princeton is certainly not a big city but I've seen firms that are 145K starting so they're out there.

I'd be making more like $90,000 in Bham. Really, I want to go into M&A, and I just don't know how much of that there would be in Bham...gladiator wrote:Also, unless you're interested in the prestige of BigLaw, it's possible you could get a good salary in Birmingham. Did all of you only go on AIM because of the chat yesterday? Added all these new AIM buddies last night and not one of them is online. I'm online all day....though most of the day is an away message while I'm at work.

Devil's Advocate says: People change during school, and the distance, things you learn, and different people you encounter may result in your views of the relationship changing. Why worry about the future now? Take it one day at a time. You may not even be together then, having met the awesome TLS guys, or he might meet a hot future MD.
Best of luck either way. You know I love you!

I would need to know where you wanted to end up MissVirginia, and what you think you might want to do. The main difference is potential in most cases.
I wish you the best of luck!

I wouldn't take any over UVA...but only because I like UVA so much and I'm really not a fan of any of those schools. If UVA was ranked 15-20, I would consider it over some T-14s.

Re: UVA Class of 2011 Housing Thread
I had no idea either, so it made not getting money a little easier for me. But if I was in your predicament, it would probably be very tough. I am fortunate that my mother paid for UG, so as of right now I have no debt, but if I did, I probably would have thought a little harder about that scholarship I got from Tulane...MissVirginia wrote: I have been in an absolute funk all day. I almost wish I had only applied to Virginia; coming into this application process I did not know free law school was an option, now that it is, I just don't see how I can justify such an enormous difference in cost.

Re: UVA Class of 2011 Housing Thread
I would have maybe taken a full scholarship from Vandy over UVA. But that's just because I love Nashville and it's close to Birmingham. Other than that, I don't know that I would have taken another school. I've really fallen in love with UVA. And having 1/2 tuition for Virginia would make the choice of Virginia really easy for me...MissVirginia wrote: Question for each of you: personally, for what #15-35 school(s) would you take a full ride over Virginia, if any, in the following two circumstances (both in-state Virginia):
1) $0 merit aid from Virginia:
2) ~1/2 tuition from Virginia:

...go straight from law school to la frontera and do immigration work in a border city out west, fight uphill battles for dollars per day 'til I'm old and gray.aguyingeorgia wrote:I would need to know where you wanted to end up MissVirginia, and what you think you might want to do. Aha! Problem solved -- I forgot that I really want to do that. Maybe I could get a clerkship in Bama if I work my tail off and I'm a good law studentMissVirginia wrote: 1. 1-2 year federal clerkship (+/- supreme court clerkship)

JD Drew/Mike Lowell tag-team in my fantasy lineup with Dice-K and Okajima holding down the pitching staff. Needless to say, the Sox are my AL team.

I gave up on fantasy baseball. It's just too annoying to do so well all year and then get screwed by a fluke bad week in the playoffs, happened to me every year. Also, it's to the point where I only pay attention to my teams, I don't even really watch baseball anymore after the Yankees and Mets are eliminated each year.

You play fantasy baseball??
To quote guy: swoon!
Just curious if you're the only female in your league. I always hear of women who play fantasy football and such, but to be honest, I've never actually met one.
