I think the key to LSAT class is getting a class of 60 or so involved. Sure, you can dryly go through each question and answers, but then it's boooooooooring. A little candy for participating might be enough to get people to raise hands and engage in discussion, which to me is the key to people saying, 'Wow, that wasn't so bad.' I know I took the class with a few people I know, and we'd probably all have done it just to show each other up.
Plus, when they're talking it means you're not, which makes your job a lot easier since you only have to correct and lead a discussion, not lecture for 4 hours. Perhaps have a hypothetical you can parallel to make your points. Making some of those abstract questions a bit more real takes away from how dry, boring and pedantic they really are.
So, treat it like a law school class, I suppose. It may seem tangential, but it helps. (What is this question saying? Do we agree with that? Is it valid? Why, Why not?, etc.) They'll get the hang of it.

Also, this is making me hungry: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/co ... ailarticle
That article was amazing. I've been dying for a good baguette. But I suppose it will cost me more than 85 centimes.

yea i'm planning on trying to keep the class as involved as possible. and lucky for me it's only 9 kids - should be able to memorize their names quickly!!SgtBilko wrote:I think the key to LSAT class is getting a class of 60 or so involved. at the start of the first class, before you say a word, set an old, crappy tape player up on your desk and play the neverending story theme song. instant inspiration.ubuntu wrote:ah guys! i'm teaching my first lsat course tomorrow and i'm wicked nervous!!! ahhhhh have any of you taught before? i need tips.

I haven't gotten much sleep lately and my head is full of quotes about prostitution from my last paper. Needless to say I took his comment in a really weird way. lol. super embarrassed!SgtBilko wrote:He wisely chose UVA over an insecure GF

As your students come in early, ask them a bunch of questions about where they want to go and what they want to do after law school. Smile throughout the class. Know your stuff like the back of your hand! The first couple of classes, they will be testing you and skeptical, make them confident by being confident yourself.

Breanne - I think you just make it out to "The University of Virginia."
All the specifics are here, including the deposit cards you need (?) to send with your check:

I made it out to University of Virginia School of Law. It doesn't really matter. Banks will accept almost anything (ie UVA, Univ Virginia, etc)breanne2011 wrote:hey kids random question...I'm sending in the first deposit today and I'm not sure who I make the check out to. I LOVE THE NEVER ENDING STORY!!!
Also, if your girlfriend didn't want you to go to the best law school possible, then she probably isn't worth it.
