Someone should show this thread to the admissions office in case they have something nasty in store for us tomorrow.

i mean, i'll definitely, remorsefully eat crow if i get a big scholarship tomorrow, but i'm more inclined to believe i haven't heard anything because i'm someone who asked for the app and because like iceberger said i'm one that sent in additional info last week after that email the dean sent out.

They processed an update to my application Monday morning...

Not if you're on the 30-year plan (frighteningly enough). :?

do i deserve something big? doubtful. many people here who've gotten nothing have better #s than me. i do think that when we're promised something we deserve at least another delay email.

+1. also, just to throw a wrench into that sending the additional info/asking for the app theory, i sent in nothing after the email and have had my app in since 1/31, and was sent the scholarship app without asking...and still nothing. sigh.

So I received the "one more day please" email yesterday. Today, I got nothing at all. Any ideas?

I just got put on a 'waitlist' for scholarships.....

I could either withdraw from the school now, or wait and see if NYU or Duke offer me any money and try to negotiate..... Tough decision because I definitely liked the location of Gtown.

I got a scholarship offer this morning. Prefer not to say the amount, but they are still sending them out for those still waiting.

Me too. I will say that they didn't just save the large scholarships for today...

I hate to say this, but are they being really stingy this year? (Compare the amounts to last year's LSN.) Is there any way to negotiate? (I got more money from Chicago...which doesn't exactly make sense.)

Oh well, I just got mine as well. Honestly, it's not nearly as much as I hoped for. Particularly after being forced to wait an extra day. It's something, but it doesn't make much of a dent in Georgetown's cost.

i got mine too, but as above, it isn't too much.

in summary, you can ask for an application and get money. not a ton, but some.

There seems to be a general consensus that the scholarships are low this year. At least, let's all agree on that to make ourselves feel better.

Chicago gave me more money too...which is just strange to me. I suppose Georgetown really is trying to conserve funds for the next few years...

I hat to be a bearer of bad news but I let them know about significant money from Duke and GW and still got placed on the Alternate list

Received my VERY small scholarship amount this morning as well. Sigh. I'm on hold at Columbia and am quite reluctant to withdraw my app from CLS for such a small amount. Kind of a hard decision, since I don't have any other great schools that I really want to attend like some ppl on here, except for CLS which put me on hold and didn't promise a decision until April 20. Grr. No clue what to do at this point.

Got it this morning. 7.5K per year. They made me wait for that? Withdrawn.

Wow, that's really pathetic. 10K/year for me. Honestly, what are they thinking? Georgetown should know that people above both 75th percentiles are likely to get higher offers from better ranked schools, if they haven't already. From LSN, it seems the highest amount is 20k/year, so I guess I can't feel too annoyed. Still, this makes it quite unlikely that I will attend Georgetown.

same as everyone above, i got 10k/year this morning. maybe we all wrote too convincing of essays of why we wanted to go to gulc, and they decided they didn't need to throw too much money at us b/c we were already committed....

or they're just super stingy.

peace georgetown.

I've sent out a lot of withdrawal e-mails where I was tempted to be really nasty only to decide it wasn't worth it. I failed to exercise restraint on this one. It's way too late in the game and there have been so many days of stress that I just couldn't hold back.

It's possible... and this may just be a theory I've construed to make myself feel better... but its possible Georgetown kept the offers low in order to see who is actually interested in the school and who isn't. With a bunch of withdrawals, they now have more money to spread around. From what I've heard, they keep up with those who don't withdraw and ask them all sorts of questions about where they've gotten in, offers made, etc., and what they're considering. And then they can increase the offers to the people they want who seem to be leaning elsewhere because of money.

It's possible. More likely, they're just being extra cheap. From what I hear, they're usually pretty cheap, though.

Vanderbilt's got a golden opportunity this year.

Just sayin.
