Can Negotiating Scholarships Ever Backfire?

Post by lawpotato » Wed Mar 01, 2017 1:03 pm

So basically, I want to negotiate a scholarship and there is probably a very small chance that they will increase it based on my stats and the fact that it's already a pretty good offer. I have some leverage, but not a ton. Is there any risk in asking them to increase it? Like, is the worst they can do is say no? I'm trying not to be paranoid here but I just want to know before I try it. If I send a very polite email, is it possible that they'll think I sound entitle and it could, in some way backfire?

As long as you're polite and don't act like an entitled ass, you'll be fine. The worst they can do is say no.
