Renegotiate scholarship?
Hello to all you wonderful law students and graduates,
Here I am, about to enter my last semester of law school.
My question is whether I should email the dean of admissions and try to get him to waive some or all of my tuition for my final semester.
It probably sounds greedy and insane to even be considering this, but I feel like I have a bargaining tool.
Essentially, I have a job offer, but I don't have to take it, and to graduate without a job would actually not be a problem for me (long story, not worth getting into here).
I feel like I have nothing to lose by asking, and money to gain, and I know the school does care about its graduates's job statistics.
So, just wondering if you've ever heard of anyone doing this successfully, and if you think I should go for it.

wut?
You're going to drop out a semester away from graduating if they don't give you more scholarship money?

Man, you guys are the best.
Of course I'm not going to drop out. My only bargaining chip is to NOT take the job that was offered to me and graduate without a job.
This would be bad for the school's graduation job placement stats.
But for me, it's neutral because I don't need to take a job right now (married, husband doing well, don't need to get into workforce immediately).
My offer is basically, "I will take that job upon graduation to help your job stats in exchange for, say, 5K tuition waiver"
I know it sounds insane. That's the great thing about anonymous forums!

Wouldn't you make more money accepting the job and working for a few months than shaving a couple k off a semesters worth of tuition? What your saying doesn't make sense, and seems selfish and mean spirited. Take the job if you want the job but i wouldn't try to use the job you don't really want (that's what it sounds like) as some weird bargaining chip.
