Become a visiting student to save cash Forum

This could be stupid,

Let's say you we're attending a private law school for full freight and then, in order to save cash, became a visiting student at like cuny in NYC for 16k a year (or whatever the tuition is now) during your last year. You get the same degree save on tuition and I'd you were going to school in Boston/dc/Cali could try and target NYC. I might be missing a peice of the puzzle, anyone have any details?

You typically get charged the same tuition rate as your matriculated school. This also applies when you study abroad at a European University that charges pennies for its students.

At least at my school, visiting students were all pass fail.

Actually I was super jealous.

All the info I've researched says we pay the new schools tuition, you just have to demonstrate a good reason.

I'm almost certain a visiting student would pay the incoming school's (sticker) tuition. Incidentally, I think Southern University Law Center OOS is actually cheaper than CUNY's OOS (and would certainly have cheaper housing).

I understand that some of the specific schools you visit may have policies, but you also have to take into account the rules of the actual institution you are attending for your degree. The matriculated institution may have controlling authority.

I have a hard time buying that a firm would rescind there offer.

They would congratulate you on your craftiness and fight for your bid.

I'm sure one could devise some narrative to justify it ("I thought I would go into LBGT discrimination, so I explored that at CUNY, but it wasn't for me.')
