How do I negotiate with GW, leveraging GULC offer?

Post by laura2011 » Sun Feb 03, 2013 9:47 am

I know common TLS wisdom is that you can do this but how??

I wanted to argue that I have a better chance of getting a good job faster when coming out of GULC than GW. But then I checked the schools' profiles on TLS and they have virtually the same job placement rate and the same average starting salary in the private sector.

So how do I tell GW that GULC is much better and I would need more money to attend GW?? Referring to rankings seems stupid. IMO, GULC has a greater selection of classes, more clinics etc and is therefore the better school. But is this enough of a reason to use in scholarship negotiations??

Thanks for your help!

You don't tell them GTown is better than their school. Just tell them you've been accepted to Georgetown, and were wondering if they could do anything with aid to help make the decision between two great schools easier blah blah blah.
