GradPlus denial due to erroneous collections accounts.

Postby wildhaggis » Tue Aug 07, 2012 2:54 pm

Hey TLS - in need of some advice.

I was recently informed that I've been denied GradPlus loans due two outstanding collections accounts. I looked into my credit report with Equifax and contacted the agency through which the accounts are maintained and confirmed that both are erroneous and not even under my name. Somehow they just ended up on my credit report.

I've opened a dispute with Equifax and they informed me that they are waiting to hear back from the collection agency, which legally has 30 days to respond. I'd like to get this taken care of as soon as possible, and was wondering if anyone with similar experiences has any advice on how to expedite the process, or if there is perhaps a quicker way to go about getting the loans approved given the circumstances.

Thanks in advance for the help.

EDIT: Corrected Experian to Equifax... Always mix those two up.

Bump.

The collection agency is a notoriously shady one and they're really jerking me around. Any thoughts?
