Top Law Schools

Alright, so I need to buy two books before classes begin, but the student loan money isnt going to be disbursed until after classes begin. I no longer have a job, so getting a credit card is literally impossible. If I put down my prior wage information on my credit card information(I "left" the job 2 weeks ago) would I get in trouble? I just want to be able to buy the needed books for schools.

I dont see any other options, as there is nobody who can lend me money.

How about trying the local library or local law school?

You should see if the school has a copy or two on reserve. Or email the profs and see if they have a copy. Or if you can get a list of the case names you can google them and read them online.

edit: the profs may have an old edition. Or maybe you can find a 2L who will let you borrow theirs and pay them when you get loans dispursed.

I have living arrangements taken care of.

Yeah, if none of these options work you can buy the previous edition online for usually around 5 bucks or less.

They had all the casebooks at the library at my law school.

Marking as I am in the same boat until the VA pays out the GI Bill stuff for me.

Your school's library should have all the books, although some may be old editions. Just ask a classmate which cases the assigned pages cover. You could also just use Westlaw or Lexis (except then you get stuck reading the whole case unless you know which part to focus on). Alternatively, you as long as your school is not hellhole gunnerpit, I'm sure your classmates will let you borrow their books while they're not using them. It really shouldn't be that big a deal.

At the very least, you can get an older version for next to nothing. That should work for the entire semester but, if not, you can just buy the new edition later
